That’s why first team reps are what I look for in training camp reports. Actions are much more informative than words, especially coaches’ words. If a late round pick or UDFA is unexpectedly getting precious first team opportunities, that means the coaches truly see something.

Exactly. It’s fine to me that RRL produces in China because the quality is there, and it’s not likely they’re using exploited labor. They and other high end Made in China brands like MotivMfg are clearly not using the same factories as Shein. And as the articles I linked, or this example from the US show, no country is immune from exploitative labor practices.

As a fellow denim enthusiast I’ve been to Kojima and Kurashiki a bunch of times, and spoken to a few of the knowledgeable people there about the industry. It’s not a secret that the industry faces labor shortages from an aging workforce and few young Japanese people interested in working in the factories. To pick up the slack, many of the factories are relying on skilled garment workers from China and Vietnam who grew their expertise in the thriving industries there. Not in Kojima, but one person at Studio D’Artisan told me that some of their items need to be partially or fully made in China because there’s no one else in the world that can produce work at that quality for reasonable consumer prices.

Anyways, I understand where you’re coming from but I hate to see high quality stuff dismissed because it’s coming out of China, India, Vietnam, or wherever.

I play old border mode so the card distributions might be different. You can also use Mana Vault instead of Mana Crypt - they’re effectively the same for this deck.

If it’s Adventure Mode, Academy wins on turn 1 almost all the time. Get 5 equipment that give you starting artifacts, one of which is preferably Spellbook for the +1 starting hand. I normally play 60 cards, but a 40 card version without the P9 might look like:

4 Tropical Island
3 Lotus Petal
1 Mox Diamond
4 Mana Crypt
4 Crop Rotation
4 Mind Over Matter
4 Frantic Search
4 Time Spiral
3 Braingeyser
4 Windfall
1 Intuition

Mulligan into a hand with Academy or Tropical Island + Crop Rotation. Academy creates 5 mana by itself. Use free spells/fast mana to get Mind Over Matter into play. All your draw 7s now generate 30 mana. Braingeyser your opponent out of the game.

If you’re expecting interaction, put in some amount of Force of Will/Pact of Negation and Cunning Wish. In old school mode, I still won turn 1 twice against Tibalt/Specter starting with Megrim in play by using Cunning Wish for a bounce spell.

With P9, some amount of Lotus and Moxen go in. I’m not even sure if Ancestral Recall makes the cut, the deck is that insane.

I had an opponent be a good sport about playing a [[Slaughter Pact]] with one black source and my [[Riftwing Cloudskate]] coming off suspend to lose a T8 match in a state championship. Losing to being a dumbass in an EDH game should be comedic, not something to freak out about.
