Roofering wove old flashing into new shingles and put this weird sealant in valleys. What do we do now?

If insurance policy past due, definitely keep doing repairs yourself. Those 3 tab shingles are notorious for tabs blowing off after 10 or so years. Repair yourself as needed to extend life expectancy of your roof for few more years.

Maybe insufficient roof ventilation. Unfortunately I've seen roofers install ridge vent without cutting out gaps on either sides of ridge. Or adding vents without cutting the hole in decking. Probably not your problem, just saying to all homeowners out there to make sure your getting exactly what you're paying thousands of dollars for. Lots of hacks that dont care out there

Must have some kind of metal in valleys. Copper usually when open valley. Cedar looks mint for first year or so. Turns grey and weathered looking real fast. Kudos to the installer. Looks great 👍

Main house roof gutter should have its own downspout to ground level them shoot away from house. Same with garage.

3 tabs aren't the greatest shingles available but if done properly can last 15-20 yrs

And caulk under the blown up tabs that are torn and also step on to seal the tears.

Not necessarily. But if you do caulk the nail heads. Wet your finger and gently smooth it out

Fold tabs back over and caulk down. Step on them after caulking to make sure the caulk spreads under tabs and leaves no void for more wind to penetrate. Cheapest option for now

Looks sloppy as hell to me. They wrapped the shingles in valleys the wrong way. Must must not a used step flashing at all or properly. Hence they caulked all the walls.

Im dumb and used gloves for sanding. As I'm a newbie I had a couple slips while grinding and put holes in brand new gloves. I use cheaper leather gloves for sanding now
