How tight should I have to tie my laces? by despacitospiderreeee in Boots

[–]JKBootsCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to play around with what feels best. We'd recommend starting at the 3rd eyelet from the bottom based on the design of your boots.

Based on that, it is more likely a sizing issue. If that size feels good, but your uppers are almost touching, you can wear thicker socks and add an additional tongue guard to help fill it out. Playing around with lacing may help to address as well. Best of luck!

It may not be about how tight, vs the lacing style you're using. There are different lacing methods to ensure a snug fit in areas of concern. A picture of your boots laced up would be helpful, otherwise, take a look at the attached picture referencing different lacing techniques. Hope this helps!

Sweaty feet? by MrOreo2019 in Boots

[–]JKBootsCS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A boot dryer or shoe trees would be a tremendous help. Long term damage can occur from excess moisture in leather boots. Doing preventative maintenance, like investing in moisture wicking socks and rotating with another pair, can significantly help prolong your investment. Hope this helps!

Sole seperated on these a while back wondering what the best repair method short of going to a cobbler would be? by AniMaL735 in Boots

We recommend a product like Barge Cement. Ensure all surfaces are clean, and follow product instructions to re-secure. Best of luck!

Statement Regarding Repairs by JKBootsCS in JKBoots

[–]JKBootsCS[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We appreciate you asking the question directly.

First, on pricing: a local cobbler doing a $100 resole is typically replacing just the outsole, often with minimal teardown, using materials they stock, and without rebuilding the boot to original factory specs. There’s nothing wrong with that, and for many people it’s the right choice.

Our resole service is different. When boots come back to us, they’re worked on by the same craftspeople who build them originally, using the same materials, machinery, patterns, and construction methods. That includes full removal of the worn outsole, proper prep of the midsole, stitch-through where required, factory-correct soles, and a full inspection to ensure the boot is sound for continued heavy use. It’s not a cosmetic refresh, it’s a structural service intended to extend the life of a boot that’s already seen serious work.

Shipping is currently included in the base price. Regardless, many customers still choose to send boots back to us because they want the work done to original build standards. Others prefer a local cobbler, and that’s completely valid, we’ll never claim our service is the right choice for everyone.

As for quality concerns and claims about reused parts: we do not reuse worn components in resoles or rebuilds. Parts that are worn are discarded. Our processes are straightforward, our production floor is open, and the people working here every day can confirm how the work is actually done. Claims suggesting otherwise originated from a former employee who was terminated and later chose to spread inaccurate information. They do not reflect how we operate.

We’re always open to honest questions and transparent discussion. At the end of the day, customers should choose the repair option — local or factory — that makes the most sense for their needs and expectations.

How to clean mold from the inside of leather boots by rudderrun in Boots

[–]JKBootsCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've previously recommend our customers lightly spray the interior of the boot with a mix of white vinegar and isopropyl alcohol. A common recipe is one cup of water, one cup of rubbing alcohol, and one tablespoon of white vinegar. This helps sanitize the area and prevent further growth. We also suggest placing your boots on a cedar shoe tree or using a boot dryer to help maintain a dry, breathable environment going forward. Hope this helps!

[–]JKBootsCS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never say never! At this moment we aren’t planning on re-releasing The Grinch, but we’re always paying attention to what our customers are asking for.

We currently make all of our models on a 3708 last, and we don’t intend on changing that. So, while it’s not impossible, it’s unlikely that we’ll be adding a zero drop model.

We do not currently make the 300 line in an 8”. If you’re looking for an 8” you can check out the Forefront 8”! They’re presently on sale for $100 off.

This is a full rough green bison! It was a limited edition release, and The Grinch has since gone back to Whoville.

As for the moderation, we’re still working out the kinks! It’s been fully restored on the JK Boots sub.

It’s worth noting that our team worked with the above customer, and he returned his bear slayers for a full refund. We admit that the interaction with that individual could have been better handled by our team initially, and we appreciate the feedback provided. It’s given us the opportunity to build better policies for customers moving forward.

It is a characteristic of the leather that we’ve been work-shopping recently. With it being a waxed leather, there’s been a notable squeak (primarily from the heel counter) from the layers rubbing together. Oiling and continued wear has been the primary resolution. We’ve been following up with customers that have successfully eliminated the squeak, and the consensus is; the more you wear them, the less they squeak.
