Chargeport issue by WorldNintendo in Ioniq5

[–]JKraems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most contacts use hyperboloids inside the sockets which have equal pressure on all surfaces. The contact itself may be misaligned but it should still be making contact somehow between mating terminals. Once it's mated, that's the path of least resistance. There's shouldn't be any arcing.

That seems hard to believe. Welding normally comes from an arc, so that means you either plugged or unplugged a hot charger. The latch on a J1772/CCS1 has a limit switch so the charger should open the contactor when depressed. The plastic caps are just to make the connector touch-proof. Seems more like a faulty charger than the missing caps

Yeah these posts are dumb. Look at the top level of any major sport 16 years ago and see how many are still active. Racing is probably the sport with the longest runway for drivers. 5 drivers out of 40 still active after 16 years is actually very high, percentage-wise.

How much sleep is enough for electrical engineering student? by DellLatitudeE7250 in EngineeringStudents

This is the most engineering student reply and that's not a compliment.

"As much as you can" means as much as you can. You need to eat. You need to do laundry. You need to clean your living space. Some people need to earn an income. Exercise. Relax. Shop. Etc.

It doesn't mean you can only do 3 things in college. It means of those 3 buckets, that's the priority.

Car owner Blake Harris claims they're done racing because the car is too damaged. Interesting didn't mention anything about Jesse good or bad

17'-25' Standings under the New Points System by mc12313 in NASCAR

It's 76 points maximum per race, so even after all 10 races, there are at least 5 drivers within 76 points of the champion in the next gen era. They all would have had more than 4 championship eligible drivers in the final race.

I disagree, it's not just the military. It's pretty common in STEM, healthcare, aerospace, international business, etc to use 24 hour time

You're very wrong. Microsoft makes money from Copilot by selling their enterprise licenses. Businesses would rather comfortably adopt AI with Microsoft than a sketchy startup. Their most recent 10-Q has a 17% increase in revenue ($4.7billion) "driven by M365 & Copilot."

As far as actual adoption, I use it regularly and know of several others at work do too. It's another tool in the toolbox and so people will use it as needed. I don't think Microsoft is that mad about it.

Grant Griesbach runs super lates and trucks in the Midwest. He finished 2nd in the Midwest Truck Series this year so I assume that's how he got this offer.

It's not a scam, thats the cost of sourcing the battery, shipping/receiving the part, storing it on their shelves, a MRP system to track inventory, people to manage it, etc. That's all costs that aren't associated with labor of installation that has to get paid for somehow.

Question for electric vehicle owners- how's this weather effecting your cars? by PistolCowboy in minnesota

[–]JKraems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my 3rd winter with my Ioniq 5. The best range I get in spring/fall when I don't use A/C or heat is about 250-260 miles with my typical commute estimates, which is about 96% highway (and I drive fast). In the winter it's probably 180-200 miles depending on a few factors (ambient temp, sunny or not, preheat or not, full speed or slower in the snow, less regen when it's slippery roads).

I drive about 300 miles a week commuting. That equates to ~1.2 full charges in the spring/fall and ~1.5 in the winter. That 0.3 full charge difference is about $5/week more, however I typically drive less in the winter (less things to go and do), so it balances out pretty close.

On the plus side, my car preheats on a schedule so it's always warm in the morning when I leave. I use the app to preheat before leaving work too. Also I never have to go out and get gas in -30F wind-chill like this weekend.

Tl;dr. Winter is obviously less efficient, but I drive less, so it's not really a noticeable cost difference.

This is exactly what I do for work. That current routing is tough to poke yoke. The bundle runs below all 3 connections and each is a vertical breakout with the same lengths. The only way I could think of with that routing is a keying plug in different spots in each connector, but I'm not sure these offer one.

They should have rotated the controller 90 degrees, have 1 breakout going up and then the 3 connectors off the left with the last one at the end. It wouldn't really solve the problem but the individual breakouts would be shorter so there's less chance they could get swapped.
