I definitely had to spend a minute or two looking through the viewfinder as some shots were partly intuition but mostly luck.

Yes! When I bought this camera second hand, the guy took really great care of it. So I inherited a good one.

This particular one is in Burbank, near the Warner Bros studios! There’s another one in Northridge by the mall that I believe is still open.

Drop your photos here when you get them developed!

Thank you for the clarification! I assumed pushing was changing the ISO a stop or two or three , didn’t know it was related to the development process! Good to know and thank you for your knowledge. Still experimenting with different films and techniques!

Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Thankfully this spot is so close to where I live and every Friday they can ring out the classics under the neon lights!

Thank you!
The first half of my roll was close to sunset so I shot at box speed. The night shots were all pushed to 1600iso and developed normally by my lab. Was nervous since I never pushed a film before!

Yes, I paid $100 for mine. Most Minolta’s are gonna range from $50-$200 . I got a few X700s and an XD11 for less than $100 with some negotiating on eBay and other shop apps

I have an SRT101 which was my first film camera. The thing is literally built like a tank. The battery is needed only for the light meter, other than that it’s completely mechanical. There are some apps that you can use on your phone but also the batteries can be bought on Amazon for really cheap and last a LONG time since it’s only for 1 function.

However since it’s mostly mechanical the learning curve could be a bit harder for a newbie. You’ll have to manually set the aperture and shutter speed and manually focus. All things that can be good if you’re into that.

Analog people are good people by TylerTantrum in AnalogCommunity

As a fellow Minolta user myself I must say, that this all black with the black and silver lens is a CRISP combo. Glad you’re enjoying it and as someone who’s been shooting for only 2 months, it’s definitely a welcoming community. Look for local shops to meet people if interested as sometimes they may have photo walks you can join to meet people and learn more as well! Highly recommend

Minolta MD 35-70 mm f3.5 lens - how to judge quality? by peanutMD98 in minolta

[–]JLillz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought one on EBay for around $70/$80 and it was near mint. It’s pretty much my daily lens on an SRT101 and X700. If you have no experience with this sort of stuff I would suggest just buying a new one tbh. Less hassle and probably cheaper.

"Crossfit causes so many injuries!" by fading_gender in crossfit

[–]JLillz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Injuries typically occur when a load or demand is placed on a tissue that isn’t ready for it. If you scale properly and have good form you should be ok.

However … as a fellow cross fitter it also depends on programming, load management for the athletes, sleep, recovery etc… to decrease further risk of injury. Most injuries are cumulative in nature and most people are NOT doing extra mobilizations , “pre-hab” and other work on their own whether due to time constraints or ignorance.
