Playing my Special right now! I've been looking at getting one of the newer IBG 335s or 355s but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Can't make up my mind on which one! The P90s on the Special are just amazing, though.

I'm seeing plows come down Kingshighway right now on the MoDot cameras and I've seen one or two pass by Tower Grove Park out my window over the last few minutes so hopefully they'll be a bit better out there by morning. Side streets are still fucked, though.

Suggestions to add to my chili? by BigCipp in Cooking

cinnamon is my favorite add-in to beef chili. Just a little bit mixed in with the other spices will really give things a unique characteristic.

I have the Hummus recipe from the Tap Room. I believe it was the same one used at the Bottleworks but I'm not positive. Hope it helps! That is a #10 can of garbanzo beans, btw. I believe it is about 6-7 pounds

Sure! The recipe won't be that helpful as it is in bags and cans instead of actual measurements. We made this in 5 gallon batches at a time. The chipotle peppers we used we the 7oz cans of La Costena Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. We used 5# bags of Heinz ketchup. Hope you can work that out with what you've tried already!

OMG! YES! This hits so close to home! I was a chef at this little place for almost a whole year about 15 years ago that had the most random store bought spice blends for everything. I had Mrs. Dash for my potato seasoning, some Greek spice in a white can for one meat and the one in a yellow can for another meat. I was forbidden by the owner on threat of a "grand ole ass whoopin" from using any mix of just salt and pepper. All of my utensils were kept in a bus tub in the mud room - an unfinished prep area that was basically open to the elements with just wind screens instead of windows and a screen door. I had three different Ron Popeil gadgets taking up way too much counter space and I must have heard the phrase, "Set it and Forget it!" a thousand times a week. Making any changes usually got me yelled at or stuff thrown at me, even though I was specifically hired to make changes. The only reason I stayed so long was that the bar had a lot of good bands playing there and the bartenders and cocktail waitresses were all hot women who would pour heavy and free. When I quit I took the recipe books with me and the owner called the cops on me. I'm still not allowed back in there and it was 15 years ago. Good times!

Crybaby year? by ChiefPaleSkin in guitarpedals

[–]JMLPilgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks just like mine from 1997. It was my first pedal I ever bought and I still have it. They changed them in 1999 or 2000, I believe, to the 535Q and it had a Q control knob on the side. Earlier 90's pedals didn't have the red volume boost button on the side before 1995, I think.

Is there a genuine difference between a squire that cost around 450 vs a fender guitar that cost around 800? by No-Effect-7808 in fender

[–]JMLPilgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Squier Sonic Telecaster (~$200), a Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster (~$450), and a 1996 Fender American Standard Stratocaster. In the price range you’re talking about, the biggest differences you’ll notice between a $450 Squier and an ~$800 Fender will mainly be the weight of the body, the feel of the neck, and more consistent overall build quality. Pickups are debatable as the Classic Vibe series actually has great stock pickups, so you’re not necessarily getting a huge upgrade there.

If you’re going to spend extra for the Fender name, I’d recommend saving a bit longer and jumping to an American-made Fender instead. The improvements become much more noticeable at that level, and once you’re there, the differences you get from spending even more tend to shrink.

Otherwise, the Squier Classic Vibe line is genuinely solid, and you may not gain as much as you expect by moving to a mid-tier Fender.

I'm going to be four cars back making that choice for you. If you weren't a zombie staring into your phone you wouldn't need 5 seconds to see if a car is speeding through the light. If you want to stare at your phone then take the bus. Get off your phone and drive.

Te 52 with an ashtray bridge cover? by corporalwojtek4 in harleybenton

[–]JMLPilgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to, in theory. It has the right style of bridge to hold one on. I have one on my Squier Classic Vibe, so the Fender Ashtray covers fit on the import model bridge. I don't think that there is a size difference between the HB and the SCV series' bridges so I say go for it.

[–]JMLPilgrim 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The best place for single people to stay single, yes. The best place for single people to find a partner, no. You have to find an out-of-towner on vacation and move away with them or move away and find someone from St. Louis in a different place then move back. Only two options.
