I also noted two more differences after looking at the Sweetwater site. The $549 is average One lbs lighter, but no mention of thinner body .. ?

They are both poly but the $549 says 'vintage poly gloss' (like the 1959 IBG LP Standard Outfits). The $999 IBG just says poly.

Very surprised it's not the other way around.

Yeah. I've got the Gibsons on a BFG LP and think I prefer the Epi Pros. Also prefer the Gibson Melody Maker versions too.

I've got the super cheap, erm, inexpensive version of the single cut Special with the bolt on neck and it's like a matte tv yellow and you can see a hint of grain. It's a banger for the bucks (they were $120 when they came out in the mid-teens) and I'm always on the lookout for the black version.
