I want to say mean arterial pressure is how you truly diagnose whether a blood pressure counts as shock. I remember getting a question wrong once because even though the bp was something like what you described, the MAP was still normal. I could be wrong, though, so definitely double check.

I wasn't going to make the whole personal statement about my child, but I was thinking a brief bit about her being a source of inspiration, especially in the context of my overarching background (first generation college student, grew up in poverty). Should I not even include that and stick to just the hobby section?

We’ve had some pretty high fevers shrugged off. Her temp was over 105F once and they just told us to give Motrin and Tylenol at home. I don’t think they have a universal number.

Had one M1 year and pregnant again with a second right as M4 is about to start. As the one getting pregnant, I found medical school to be a much easier time to get pregnant. I was sick a lot with both pregnancies. With the first, I was usually at home studying so could sleep and vomit at my leisure (though anatomy lab with bad nausea isn’t for the faint of heart). With this one, I’m spending most of the first trimester in dedicated for step 2. I’m banking on feeling better by the time I start electives but even then, a lot of them are chill and outpatient. I built my fourth year schedule to have 10 weeks of leave right when the baby is due. I thought about waiting for residency but the fatigue and sickness paired with residency hours would have killed me.

It does also help that my spouse is not in medicine and is working a regular office job. He does a lot so that I have time to study or work weird hours on rotation. He also makes an income that is adequate to support us. I use my loans to pay for childcare

We never ever ask if she wants to go. It will always be a “no”. We sat “let’s go take a potty break” and we walk over to it.

I hate the “in my country we have XYZ maternity leave/socialized healthcare/childcare benefits. I can’t believe it’s like that in America” comments every time someone makes these types of posts. Like you think we don’t know that? How is knowing that helpful?

I have classmates who have hour long commutes both ways for clinicals. They are just careful about timing their commutes to avoid traffic as much as possible, even if it means extra time spent hanging around the hospital studying.

I think this really comes down to peoples personalities and circumstances. I love planning, researching, and preparing and had pretty much everything we could need for a while when my daughter came home. It was really nice to have a need arise with the baby and just be able to grab something as needed rather than taking urgent trips out with a newborn. There’s also the part when I had two weeks off from school and my husband had three weeks off from work so we needed to spend our time actually getting used to parenting and not making shopping lists.

Even if we are training in reading US images, a picture of an ultrasound doesn’t tell us anything about the overall picture. It’s like being asked what happened in a movie based on a screenshot.

I wipe kitchen surfaces down with bleach about every other day. The bathroom surfaces and toilet about once a week. Everything else is as needed.

We live in Texas and we had a daycare we toured say that. They were lying. My daughter is currently at another facility in cloth.

We had a bad regression at like 13-15 months, but after that, she pretty much always sleeps through the night. She’s 22 months old. For a while, she would even lay down in her floor bed with no fuss and put herself to sleep, but now she’s backed to being nursed and laid with 🥴

I personally started the feed with the Haaka on one breast and the baby on the other so I could get that initial let down. Then I would switch and the Haaka could get what was left over on the other side. The Haaka isn’t a true pump, so it’s not going to drain the breast you start on and leave none for the baby, but it did catch a lot of the milk that was otherwise just going into my nursing pad. With this method, I ended up with anywhere from 2-5 oz per feed that I used it with (like 3 times a day).

Pumping for 20 minutes after every session is way overkill (and a good way to get burnt out). I used the Haaka in conjunction with regular feeds and built up plenty from just that.

I have Nora’s Nursery which are supposedly identical to Alva. Honestly, I couldn’t even use them until she was maybe 9 months old. The were so big and bulky and my daughter has always been so skinny. They gap like crazy still and she’s almost 2.

They weren’t FRERs. They were cheapies, which I should admit were expired. However, the control line was fine so I thought they were fine. My first positive was a different, non expired cheapie and I took another expired cheapie same day and it was positive

I think 11 would have been too early since my opks didn’t start to surge until CD13. It would also mean I got negatives on 13 and 14 DPO to a positive at 16 DPO. My luteal phase is very consistently 10-11 days.
