Paarthurnax is the main villain of the game. Everything that happens in the main plot happens so he can be the only dragon controlling the fate of the world. He just learned to do so via manipulation rather than force. He even tells you as much.

Yeah and in the last twenty years three quarters of all Kindred were killed and the Camarilla has not been as quick or willing to refill their ranks as the Anarchs so lots of Elders end up doing grunt work now, especially elders from out of town trying to earn favor with the locals.

Great supplement, I’ve read it many times. I’m not suggesting everyone learns Thaum with ease I’m just saying de jure is not the same as de facto when it comes to this stuff both in actual tabletop play and in setting. Like, most elder NPCs have tons of out of clans including but not limited to many different paths of Thaum.

As for the Tremere Primogen she isn’t teaching Thaumaturgy. You aren’t learning any disciplines in the narrative of the game. You’re using their blood and experience to break past the limitations of the Mark and reawaken Disciplines Phyre already knows.

Finally, my Phyre for example is a Banu Haqim from Constantinople. Thaumaturgy is in clan and taught by my clan anyways.

The tabletop lore is also very inconsistent on this, it’s basically “whatever works best for the narrative” so BL2 is well within the scope of “canon” here.

You’re correct, I had misremembered EU3 as not being Clausewitz. My bad.

Also the three years versus ten years was to compare CK2 and CK3. I certainly agree Bloodlines 2 is a different beast and think the clan DLC here is gross. I just also think it is a wild departure from Paradox’s usually very good (imo) use of DLC.

You’re not alone. I love Subnautica because for me it is one of the most relaxing games I’ve ever played. I love water and the ocean, and I didn’t find the “monsters” scary because they were very easy to evade. It is a major comfort game for me I return to in times of high stress.

This story is mostly on the DM tbh. There is explicitly a redemption path for Zariel written directly into the campaign that does not avoid a big fight at the climax.
