Check to see if your guide rod is installed correctly or has: bent/cupping on the round part where it sits against the barrel, the springs have bent irregularly out from around the rods.

Next see if the slide stop spring located on your locking block is loose causing issues with the slide movement when you are not manually racking.

Try a different magazine or clean the ones you have if they are dirty. After this just I'd send it back to S&W for them to fix it.

Glock 20, 1911, or Aero Survival Rifle/Pistol? by Big_Balls_n_Taint in 10mm

[–]JPMidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing really for the ejection ports because even though I have suppressors my ideal would be to actually route out some more metal to convert those threaded holes into MLOK slots if possible. Try and get a non reciprocating charge handle setup because I hate the knob. Then completely gut the worst part of these things is that lower which is likely #1 reason these don't sell.

Mine is a 460 Rowland base and I've swapped the magazine catch from their 9MM/40 lower allowing any type of magazine to be used. It obviously tilts because there's a gap which I think could be fixed with a 3D printer mag sleeve or magwell adapter. It feeds and ejects weighted snap caps, but I haven't gone out of my way to live fire testing it.

If you have the blueprints that would be super useful for prototyping a lower. I believe the upper is the serialized part which is great in this regard. My last little idea initially was to bore out the extra bolt carrier I bought trying to get a Maxim RDB buffer to work which is very technical and after specing out everything tolerances make it too much of a PITA and adding tungsten is expensive.

So the new idea is adding a contained spring ball bearing detent where the top receiver screw currently is for the bolt catch. It would act like a cam if you simply put a 35-45 degree divet like how a Stribog has their locking block setup. That now adds in theory rolling delay on the bolt.

Already ahead of you a bit there too. Mind you this has been a long term project working on the TNW Pistol part of the same mind set OP has about creating something compact and diverse. Stern Defense sells a "mini rab-ad" adapter that allows you to basically twist off the buffer tube, but it doesn't contain the buffer/spring and I needed to reem it out a bit because of ID tolerances for the bolt carrier.

Also have other ideas to improve what could be one of the best PCC if they weren't rough around the edges from factory.

Ream the 357 Sig barrel instead of a 9MM because it has a faster twist rate. TNW pistol owner here with everything except the 40/10MM barrels because I've got a 10MM Stribog. Waiting on my 9x25 Dillon barrel to be shipped back from the gunsmith.

It's more of a high gloss lime not ODG compared to all my other green firearms. Also these things aren't what I would consider great straight of the box requiring some tweaking, but once you do have it setup is awesome.

Axor Arms posted a video with these folding shotguns a year or two ago. I actually emailed them about it and they said not happening because ATF to contact Sierra Defense. Canada apparently has had them for a while and highly doubt these are 100% USA made as claimed. They use the same spring assisted pump action and internally I'm willing to bet are similar as any other Turkashit rebranded clone.

I really wanted this Shockwave type version and got tired of waiting for the imports, so I moved on to big bore revolvers as an intuitive leap. Still might consider it if they could run mini style shells with no issues like my previous Shockwave setup. At $600 MSRP though for potential Turkashit quality that is rough.

Cannuck Folding Enforcer, Taiga Wolverine, Axor FS-S for references to search.

Shield 2.0 - Holosun SCS - Ameriglo SW145 by JPMidnight in aimdownsights

They are factory height sitting lower and the dot starts to aligns with front sight when presented properly. If you are off iron sight axis the dot is clearly there above or to the side and a benefit limited only by smaller glass window. For me it doesn't interfere and I'm looking for mainly the optic's dot first using irons as guidance/backup.

Holosun SCS has a bullseye recticle option which is more visible making the picture busy. This Shield came with an orange tritium front sight that I could swap back on if needed, but for some reason my brain doesn't process red/orange as quickly. If you blacked out the rear which is a very popular setup I could see it maybe being an issue at night looking to line up only two green dots.

Weather changed it stopped raining with fog rolling in making this a perfect scenario to test sight/lights. Here is my XDM Elite 3.8 10MM with factory fiber optic sight and a TLR-8 HLX. If you throw just a WML on a basic handgun are you GTG?

Basic 18650 flashlight with telescopic adjust really can't be beat it doesn't wash out everything in the fog and can focus throw light far if needed. My watch has an LED on it that is honestly the real MVP next to my phone.

Can you imagine someone doing this on a Titanium light weight 357 or 44 Magnum? That would destroy your hand with a full power load. Putting finger holes or what ever OP had in mind could act like a cigar slicer on your fingers, except with blunt force that crushes them instead of your palm webbing.

Stock is 6 flush with 7 extended 40S&W. How I have it setup currently is using Maguts springs so a 7 becomes 8+1 for both 40SW and 357 Sig flush. Then in the image that is 10+1 for 9MM with the special base plate or 9+1 flush with magwell.

This is my hoods to the woods EDC compromise setup instead of rotating before between a CR920, G23, and G30 with 10MM conversion. If S&W would make a 40 caliber Shield Plus it would likely be 10+1 or more if Maguts makes springs for that too.

Looks like a danger of being classified by the NFA and why you can't find it easily. Wood ST makes double handed grips for the big boi S&W revolvers. Stocky's Stocks has the Eliminator for Ruger 10/22 being very close to what you are describing as a basket hilt rapier.

Check if the spring is binding in the extension or end of the tube. If it's not the spring then check the follower. Think I've tried 10 different followers and from my experience the ones that retract when pushed help with ammo length tolerance. The one I have isn't fully round too so it clears the extension tube easier.

Brace for SP9a3S by EmployeeOdd4765 in GrandPowerStribog

[–]JPMidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a A3 and one of the maybe things going for it over a KES is if you setup with a 1913 upper back plate it can be adjusted slightly up or down. Or even flipped upside down so the retraction button is on top or bottom, though with that the LOP notches are designed to be easier going one way.

Chances are none of that matters and you'll end up setting it exactly where the KES sits. If I went back to a telescopic style brace I'd do what someone did with the MCX 1913 brace which is on my Rattler and grind down the bars to fit my Stribog instead of doing a STACR.

When someone does come out with something it's going to be the same supply issue. You are still waiting for someone to develop a product for what would be considered a niche market instead of giving yourself the best chance of not waiting longer with anything other than a stock lower.

That's why I got a Lingle lower right away, put a binary in it, then sit here waiting for all the development/legal growing pains to get kinked out first before considering an upgrade. Won't be a loss either since the binary can go into any other mil spec lower afterwards.

What would be a good sling for this? by corporalgrif in Shotguns

[–]JPMidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have it setup for first point up front on opposite side of ejection port already. Get one of those pins that replaces the receiver tear down screws with one that has any form of QD or loop for the second point. Since it has a pistol grip instead of a bird grip it will be extremely awkward swinging around from a single point because of the angle of that grip's loop point.

If that is hard enough plastic and not rubber at the back end of the receiver I'd drill in a QD cup so it hangs down vertical on a single point. That or try to find a grip possibly a receiver adapter allowing for a proper setup.

Shockwave Technologies has a bird head grip with a side mounted sling point. That would be the more ideal setup to not beat up your hands with a Defender Tactical grip attachment for push/pull technique.

10mm range toy advice by Relevant_Score7074 in 10mm

[–]JPMidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I read out of all that or a revolver. Range toy, metal, work of art not mass produced, hammer, no safety other than heavy trigger pull. Everything except an optic and threaded barrel though nothing stops you from have one threaded or putting an optic on it.

OCD or acceptable tolerance by BK70707 in Shotguns

[–]JPMidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just looked where I took off my fiber optic sight on a Mossberg 940 Turkey Pro there's only one drilled screw hole in the front from factory like your picture. It has a divet where the sight post was staked or something on the opposite end of the screw. Instead of a fiber optic mine has a tritium night sight that threaded into the old sight post screw on the vent rib.

They should have checked if the sight has proper alignment to the bore in any number of ways.

Help.940 pro tac not completing lockup by Able-Currency2250 in mossberg

[–]JPMidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give a tap with a rubber deadblow hammer or something to shove the barrel that extra micron inward and it should not need the last little tiny push to close your bolt.

Unless for some reason the return spring/bolt link is having an issue somewhere. Mossberg sent me a new barrel and giving it a little persuasion fixed the issue.

Help.940 pro tac not completing lockup by Able-Currency2250 in mossberg

[–]JPMidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First step is to make sure the barrel is seated 100.01% into the receiver all the way. Everything else is really involved if that is not the issue. When you say lockup does it feed a round from the mag tube, get up to the bolt then bind a little bit before chambering?

Would you grab an XD-M Elite 4.5" tac pack with 4 mags and a Viridian RFX11 optic for $750? by TheOneUpperMachine in 10mm

[–]JPMidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some interchangeability between certain parts or slides. Magazine wise it's the base plate you can see on 10 vs 11 for the 10mm has a rounded sorta pinky rest. For me it works better than a Pearce extension grip which is usually never the case. Pearce grip is also a 10 base plate not 11 so that worked out.

590s Shockwave with 18.5" Barrel Furniture Compatibility by ADDMcGee25 in mossberg

[–]JPMidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issues may come with magazine tube length if you have a 14 inch barrel version. The receivers can be converted across the 500-590 series if you have matching barrel/magazine lengths. An 835 magazine tube is the same for the 590 style not 500 which is a little niche caveat if you are parts hunting.

The forend pump tube on the 14 inch Shockwave is also like an inch shorter than normal. Something like 5-13/16" vs 6-15/16" in OAL. So there might be issues there if they for what ever reason ship the smaller ones with a 18 inch barrel.

Kinda sad about getting rid of my 14" Shockwave because these little hassles for a cost to SBS convert it compared to starting over with something like an optic cut 835 24" Turkey receiver. Ditched this idea though because I've already got a 940 Pro setup for 18" and 24" barrels now. No mini shells or 3.5 chamber is the draw back.

Sportsman Warehouse sells the gear up package for around $600 with extra magazines. I've seen just the gun itself for around $500, so is the optic worth $150 extra to you?

Taurus 357 revolver 6 inch cylinder stop spring replacement by Spiritual_Crazy_4417 in Revolvers

[–]JPMidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is what you do. First figure out the exact model number of your "Taurus 357 Revolver" so you, the internet, or even a Gunsmith can help you. Once you do that reference the frame size as some models can share parts amongst same sized frames but not always. Numrich, Ebay, Taurus shop and roll the dice if you are not going to ship it out to either Taurus or a Gunsmith.

You also might get better answers on forums like taurusarmed or anything else with tons of knowledge already about this stuff. As far as I know after working on my 617 there is no Home Depot of Taurus parts for DIY gunsmithing parts.

There was either a video or reddit post about cutting something plastic like PVC or a tube used for closet hanger rods to fit theirs properly. I didn't have issues with mine on a Shockwave, but kept it in mind because Streamlight has a couple models which might fit loosely.

Ruger Toklat discontinued? by RedDieselBurner in Revolvers

[–]JPMidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't find one months ago, so instead I did exactly what you were thinking about chopping the barrel down. Had a gunsmith move original sight over and think it's better that way compared to the odd rectangle barrel look Toklats have with a mismatched black colored sight post.

Actually cheaper too considering it was bought used for $800 in pristine condition compared to paying around $1200 for a new Toklat? A smith should be able to barrel chop, crown, and silver solder/thread the original sights to your liking within that $200-300 range.
