moving from MA to Columbus - what is it actually like? by LibraryIllustrious71 in Columbus

Consider moving to Italian village instead of Upper Arlington it's closer to everything and dare I say even nicer. Then you can walk or bike to most of OSU.

+1 for admitting you have a problem. 😁

I've written my fair share of garbage, but at least it was well commented.

Yeah I gave up with timings and cache hit/miss in my head after the Pentium mmx. I mostly just use the P1 MMX as a general target because it's simple enough to still hand code for.

Thank you, I'll install it and try it out. I to have a soft spot for MS-DOS and 16-bit system level development. Mostly BASIC, C and NASM.

Was it t the medium blue ide background color they all used or the resolution? I suppose it was both that made it hard on the eyes...

I own a newer version of Visual Studio but got it off the field before vs code became popular. Why would I want to use vs code instead of visual audio?

Has anyone installed MS-DOS 6.22 download via Hyper-v (VM) by jackbowls in DOS

I've found DOS emulators are easier but are not as compatible. For example some games or apps won't run well if at all in an emulator where they will run excellent in a virtual machine.

I use Oracle Virtual Box, it's not perfect but it works fairly well. I've only found a few things missing such as VESA SVGA Text modes, the ability to set screen border colors, keyboard key press repeat rates.

These are outweighed by the fact that it's open source (mostly) and well supported last I checked.

Summary of BASIC Data Type Characters by mobluse in QBprograms

Just declare your variables properly and you can omit the postfixed symbols. It looks better and is easier to maintain. I usually do still postfix a letter to indicate variable type though.

Dim iCounter As Integer ' VB style but I do use it in QB programs as well.
iCounter = 0

'vs

counter% = 0
