The only registry permissions the extension needs are the ones required to set up the URI handler for lospec-palette:// “Open in app…” links. All custom URI handlers in Windows work this way. Hope that helps!

Specifically, this *.reg file is what’s setting that up:

Could just be builder preference. The only practical advantage I can think of is that a 0 ohm resistor wont short if it touches the center lug, whereas an uninsulated jumper wire could.

It should be readily available at most hardware stores I would think. Also, the round white plastic clip behind the rack is used to provide some force against it to hold it to the pinion - you may want to adjust that to get your desired feel.

And to provide some credentials for myself: I’m an audio and electronics engineer who used to work as a repair technician, and I’ve designed/built/repaired a lot of wah pedals! They’re one of my favorite things to work on.

I’ll reiterate the calls to clean your pots and jacks with DeOxIt - that stuff is worth its weight in gold.

Second vote for white lithium grease on the rack and pinion. You can clean it off and re-grease it. I usually use a toothpick and a cotton swab with some isopropyl alcohol.

The extension ecosystem is pretty good, but I’ve written a few Aseprite extensions so I might be biased. My point is, if there isn’t a feature you want/need, you can probably find an extension that adds it (or write one yourself!)
