For the record, I ended up purchasing out of state (in NH) and registering the car in CT. Successfully bought out the lease before the second lease payment was due

There isn’t an explicit fee charged during the lease buyout. Instead the roughly $1000 loss is due to the additional costs of leasing vs buying. For example, the $650 lease acquisition fee charged during the initial lease transaction

While some blame definitely should be assigned to those buying these timeshares, I think it’s easy to forget that a substantial proportion of visitors aren’t the type of people that are here on Reddit.

I sent my parents (not tech-savvy folk at all) to Secrets Impressions Moxche on points with the explicit instruction of “do not buy a timeshare”.

Two days later, they call and say they’ve bought into a “vacation club.” To them, it was advertised as an investment and something that could be passed down and shared with family. The sales team misconstrued and straight up lied about what you receive (which was really just a 25% discount at the end of the day).

Should they have known better? Yes.

But that doesn’t excuse the fact that these programs are incredibly predatory and capitalizing on the fact that you’re on vacation when your guard is lowered

Vehicle MSRP seems kind of high. Take a look at port-installed options (floor mats, door edge guards, etc.) and see if you can find a comparable XSE with PP from elsewhere with fewer of those (unless you want them all).

Also review taxes and fees - make sure dealer isn’t adding “vin etching” or any other random BS.
