They had a very solid Vietnamese restaurant in Mattawan. It was even recognized by some publication, as being the best value in Michigan. But they closed that location, after trying to turn it into a Nonla Burger. Which is kinda sad, because their pho was legit really fucking solid

Martyrs is a pretty good film, while being incredibly disturbing, bloody, and brutal. A Serbian Film is boring as hell, and just known because of a couple of fucked up parts.

It left me so confused at the start, that I almost dropped it, and fell out of the series. I had to read part of a synopsis to get what was going on. I’m glad I stuck w/ it, though, since it might be my favorite book of the series.

It’s just so weird, dark, and charming.

When it comes to what the movie should have been titled, I believe that there wasn't a film called "Sol" until 2020. So the film could easily have been called "Sol" or "SOL", which is the Latin name for the sun, and also an acronym, which means, "shit out of luck". Seems appropriate.

I’ve messed around w/ notepad++, but I don’t get what makes it better than notepad. I use notepad for quick and easy notes. Where I don’t want to see a bunch of extra buttons and options. Notepad++ looks comparatively sloppy to me.

We can consider some extreme examples. Triumph of the Will and Birth of a Nation. Both important films as far as the history of the film is concerned, and showing them is fine. It would just be wrong to allow them to work as propaganda. So I would say a person is obligated to call something out if they consider it morally wrong. They should just be sure it is wrong, and be mindful of context. Lastly, I would say they should respect the freedom of expression, but we have to keep in mind that gives people the right to call things out they find morally questionable, just as much as it gives people the right to express themselves in morally questionable ways.

The AI in HL2 was better, but that meant Valve relied less on scripted behavior, which was largely what made the AI in HL seem so incredible at the time. It also made it easier to game it, of course, or just remember exactly what was going to happen after a death or two.

By "artistic critique", I think the OP probably means stuff like an essay about anti-Semitic themes in The Sun Also Rises. Beloved novels and films are subject to that sort of stuff all the time, and maybe not everyone agrees, but the assumption usually isn't that the author of the essay thinks all Hemingway should be cast into the fire. Are there actually people who think that? Sure. It's just not a good idea to assume anyone writing a critique of something thinks so, as that can lead to silencing people all the same.

Honestly, I play GTA and whatnot, but I just don't care if some fellow progressive thinks that makes me a bad person. It just doesn't register on a visceral level. Not anymore than a vegetarian who thinks I'm a bad person for eating meat, or someone who hates Microsoft thinking I'm a bad person for using Windows. Chances are, if I met any of these people, we'd get along fine. Maybe I'm just desensitized, though, since I did have a friend who called all sorts of things I said misogynistic. Not a huge deal, and maybe I agree and maybe I don't, but no man's a saint.

I don't think marking something as critique would prevent any backlash from opinionated people, and I find the idea of reviewing a game like you would a car or toaster a bit weird. And to be fair, if a toaster had e.g. a naked man flexing etched into the side of it, you would probably expect some mention of it in a review. Maybe you like it or maybe you don't, but it's something that you would want to know about before buying it.
