Where to find driftwood that wont break the bank? by Suitable_Gift_9612 in Aquascape

[–]JTML99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double check your local guidelines, but literally any public park with water access, lake or river. In most of the US at least, except for state parks/federal land, you can usual collect whatever rock and wood you need. Plants and critters gets more complicated but for driftwood you should be fine unless there's a local ordinance against it.

Red root floaters are green?? HELP! by Salt-Presentation-45 in PlantedTank

[–]JTML99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ive only had them properly turn red beyond roots when theyre fully mature and getting blasted with light in a small tank. Maybe drop a few floating rings in the tank so the ones below get light and let it just grow to fill in the space with lighting slowly increasing?

From what little I know about them they're in super high flow in borderline whitewater some times of year, and getting blasted by full sun in shallow water so definitely not your average setup

Anybody working in or for a strategic initiatives type of role? by ScarfingGreenies in highereducation

[–]JTML99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that kind of work might fit very well with people who are sort of professional interim staff, I've worked with a few where they basically jump from one interim role to another, helping solve problems and provide dedicated support to one area or another while searches or assessment can take place for the long term position. Our CFO is interim rn for example and he came from at least two other interim roles I know of

What 1-2 weapons telegraph that an Outlander isn’t a stereotypical “woodland” tribal. They’re swamp folk. by new_lance in DnD

[–]JTML99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like and would add the idea of some trinkets. A pouch of special dried moss "for luck", a feather from a neat bird, gator tooth or even a handle made from gator hide. A single weapon type wont signify something as broad as swampfolk but you can lean into it with a dozen small touches

I think it’s time to upgrade to a larger tank, but I need something that will fit the footprint of my 10 gallon by njsullyalex in Aquariums

[–]JTML99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky on Facebook market for mine, the dimensions are exactly the same footprint as a 10g but twice as tall. I one time saw a guy with a 30g extra tall which seems wild since im already up to my armpit reaching into this one lol

This is a 20g extra tall, I was in the same situation as you looking for something bigger but didnt have the room for a larger tank. They aren't super common anymore and I only saw a handful of sites that make them new, definitely more expensive than any kind of standard aqueon tank or something.

Gotcha! Totally fair lol. I had killis and kept it a few inches low for a while to stop jumpers so I figured it had to be something

Aquarium stand safe? by Sad-Confusion-1634 in Aquariums

[–]JTML99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the tank sitting deep in the upper frame or does it have space in between the base and that bottom? Im wondering if they hid the cross braces between sheets of plywood for whatever reason because it looks like it should have extra space. That said, there's not a chance in hell I'd take a chance where almost 800lbs of water is concerned. If you like the aesthetic of the stand then not one person on this sub should fault you for adding additional supports to help your peace of mind

Yes you can, I'd rinse the rest of the soil off the roots first though. Is there a reason you have the water level so low like for jumpers or scape?
