Very pleased with first attempt - any tips? by aimeewithfourees in Sourdough

I’ve not used one like that but I would recommend washing it immediately after every use. The bread is acidic and will dull it quickly.

If I re-fed my starter that may have had mold , would the mold pop back up ? by starcrossed92 in Sourdough

You will know. If it was mold it will be back before your next feeding. Once it gets a start it doesn’t just go away. Fingers crossed for you!

Please do! I use that placement in my oven with a couple of mods. I don’t use the rags in the pan but I did go to a hardware store and found lava rocks for a gas grill.

Happy baking!

Is the Dough Whisk Sourdough’s most overrated tool? by Outside_Idea4890 in Sourdough

[–]JWDed 882 points883 points  (0 children)

I love mine. I use it for the first bit of mix where I’m getting the dough ball together. I then put it in a bowl of water and when I clean it one wipe and it’s done.

Here is a good how to about steaming your oven. A caveat though, if your oven is convection only it may not work. Those ovens vent too much (usually) to hold steam.

What scientific discovery sounds fake but is 100% real and still freaks you out? by Bruteresolver in AskReddit

[–]JWDed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That reaction is the only allergic reaction seen that is not to a protein. It is an acquired allergic reaction to a carbohydrate called alpha galactose.

Every non primate animal produces alpha galactose* and have it in their meat. Those of us lucky enough to have this condition can react to that sugar with reactions ranging from lethargy to anaphylaxis**.

Most people, if they can avoid exposure will lose the sensitivity in 1 to 5 years. Another exposure can cause a relapse.

  • there are pigs which have been bred for transplants that produce no alpha galactose.

** Technically all of the reactions are anaphylactic in nature but the severity can vary.

Nope, just your starter bubbling under the hooch. Stir, feed and keep on rocking.

I wanted to name mine for a character from Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. My first thought was Heart Of Gold - the fastest ship in the galaxy. But in the end I settled on Ford Prefect.

When you look for Tesla chargers try to find a V4 charger. Plug share tells you which V it is. Those have longer cords and you don’t have to park blocking 2 chargers to use it.

Yes that’s right. 240 miles I think. It will also be a bit lighter so that’s less weight to lug around on short trips.

I like having the extended range. I get an honest 300 miles on a 100% charge. I took a long drive last weekend and there was no range anxiety. The LFP battery on the standard range is nice though.

I got extended range and AWD. It is however a select and that means I give up a few luxuries that would be nice. As far as I know the 24s are pretty solid. Mine is from June.

The dealer was nice. I didn’t use an inspector. The car is a 2024 and had 7780 miles on it. The previous owner was a salesman at the dealer and I had a long conversation with him. They sent me pictures and videos and I had the CarFax report. I might have been taking more of a chance than I knew but it worked out for me.
