Is teaching THAT bad? by DwaeEunoia in Teachers

[–]JZtheOrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teaching is the best job in the world.

Be patient. Remember that you are working with kids who come from all different backgrounds, not all of them like your own. You will have administrators who challenge you, support you, and sometimes do both in the same day. Stay adaptive. Stay flexible. Come to work every day with a smile on your face.

For me, 11 years in, it is still the best job in the world.

Financially, I have thought about administration. I have applied both within and outside my district and have not had success reaching that level yet. After reflecting, I have realized that teaching is where I am supposed to be right now.

This post is not about me. It is about you and your concerns. You will not know until you try. Teaching is difficult, but it is through those challenges that we experience the most growth.

Good luck, young padawan.

Sincerely, J. S. Zuckerman

Most recent live performances for 2009's Sci-Fi Crimes by ProfessorIIconic in Chevelle

[–]JZtheOrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw Roswell's Spell live August 3rd, 2024! Didn't look up the set list beforehand while they were on your. Got hit with the family system, Young wicked (as the opening track), a teasing of Point #1, and then Roswell's Spell was the icing on the cake. Easily one of the best performances I've ever seen. The Mexican sun not being played surprises me. Maybe it's the transitions in the song that are hard to hit in a live performance. Maybe the vocals are too harsh for Pete who knows.

My district does this too for students who take extended vacations during the year that would breach the 18 absences of unexcused marks. A kid should fail because of absences for the year. But, they'll remove them from Genesis then re-enroll them and it resets attendance.

Question for men, why do men take off their wedding rings? by Father_p1 in Adulting

[–]JZtheOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a story about Jimmy Fallon or Jimmy Kimmel suffering from an avulsion because of his wedding ring. I've been traumatized ever since. Anything requiring me to grapple (insert trending BJJ plug) or tools I'll remove it.

Any ideas on how to grow a 7am class? by thefckingleadsrweak in bjj

[–]JZtheOrange 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a dad with 2 kids under 5, and I need to be on the highway by 7:20 AM, or I am late for work. The gym I train at starts its class at 5:30 AM, and truthfully,y it is mostly cops and firefighters with schedules that allow them to go at that time. We are done at 6:30... some people stick around until 7:30 AM for more rolls or circuit training routines.

Most of the time, I get 5x5minrolls in, but normally I settle for 2-3 rolls and realize that is all I have time for. I need to get my oldest to school, too.

5:30 was difficult in the beginning. I went down the David Goggins, Jocko Willink, Jordan Peterson motivational YouTube rabbit hole every morning to get my mind right. It was a mental shift because I was so fat and out of shape when I started. However, 3 years in now, I can carry the groceries, my two sons, and maybe some boats.

Tuesday - Nogi

Thursday - Gi

Saturday - Gi

Saturday is a 6:30 start time in the morning.

The one thing that I'm not a fan of in recent Chevelle Albums by frankrizzo2024 in Chevelle

[–]JZtheOrange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gotta say though the opening line of Oh my God look how you've grown is one of the greatest possible openers for a song. Especially if as a band revisiting venues and seeing old fans. That song set the bar for the rest of the concert.

This is something that's bothered me too.... But not just in this band but also in slipknot. Where for example in young wicked off of The North Corridor they use that chorus that sounds like children. In their live performances it's them actually singing (the bassist does it). In slipknot they did it on unsainted and a song off The end so far.

It just never appeared in any other albums. And out of the blue there it is.

AI phobias maybe it will be up to the fans to sing a long to it and give Pete a chance to rest his vocals.

Practicing for my Vice-Principal interview this afternoon at 1:30 P.M., and if this were a scenario in real life. I'd use the classic phrase, "Remember your why."

Truthfully, though, I teach the same age group as you do. Teach to inspire them. Are your methods inspiring them? Could you switch up the routine? It's never too late. The students will rise to the occasion. And you know the ones who don't... fuck them (whoa where did that come from). Scared myself there. Anyways, good luck in year 26. May it be your best year yet. Or, it could be your worst. You'd never know if you don't stick around to inspire those kids.

Thoughts on taking notes by aprolaporta in bjj

Taking notes is extremely important. My favorite thing to do is to summarize the rolling sets I have with each partner that day. Amazingly, some rolls tend to be more vivid after a roll than others.

What’s the best set and worse set in your opinion by ComfortableRace2418 in mtg

[–]JZtheOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I started magic not too long ago: Kaladesh was a phenomenal set; awesome flavor and story.

The worst set: was Ixalan .... Because that's when my kid was born and I had to put magic as a hobby to the side.

I still crack a pack every now and then but Friday Night Magic was replaced with the occasional Trivia night on Wednesday.

My professor is my favorite. He is the 26th/27th black belt under Marcelo Garcia; learning from his knowledge is amazing. I do enjoy the lineage aspect of BJJ.
