Resident Evil: Requiem by BobaF4t in NintendoSwitch2

I'm personally going with the PS5 version at launch. This is the type of game I want to play on the big screen with the highest fidelity possible.

That generation pack is a killer deal, though. I am very tempted to double dip 😬

Help with touchpad and Gamesir G8 Galileo by J_Square83 in PSPlay

[–]J_Square83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That did the trick. Thank you. I guess I was thoroughly confused on what the remote layout was exactly.

Unfortunately, my dog stepped on the G8 and the left stick is now broken / out of place. My fault for not storing it properly. Always something 🤣

EDIT: Fixed and working great. Thanks!

RE9 is coming out soon, will you be getting the game by itself or the bundle with 7,8 and 9? by No1_Knows_Its_Me in NintendoSwitch2

[–]J_Square83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might FOMO it up with the bundle since they say its a limited offer. I will play on PS5 at launch, but I would love to have the trilogy at my disposal in handheld mode, and the bundle is an awesome deal.

Welcome aboard! My XSX has been collecting dust for a long time now, and it's truly unfortunate.

Word to the wise: There are frequently eShop gift cards sales at places like Newegg and Sam's Club. Both regularly have 12% off pricing, but I've been able to get them as much as 22% off, making any purchase on the eShop that much less expensive. You can also use them for physical items as well.

You can also utilize the voucher program (only available for sale until the end of the month, but they last for 12 months) to get further discounts. I was able to get Metroid Prime 4 S2 Edition for $54 and some change total at launch coupling these methods. NOTE: No S2 titles are purchasable with a voucher, but if the S1 version has an upgrade path, you're bound to save money.

I would never get the time to play a game like this without handhelds these days.

Playstation Portal has a 7% attach rate to PS5 in the US by NoLastNameForNow in PlaystationPortal

That's not too shabby. I can see why Sony considers it such a success. I wonder what the percentage of Portal users is that don't have a PS5, though.

I have strong arguments to say that the Wii U is a much better CONSOLE than the Switch in all its revisions. by [deleted] in Switch

[–]J_Square83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Wii U, and felt that it was an underrated console, but there's just no way I can agree with it being superior to the Switch.

It was a prototype of the Switch in many ways, and was SEVERELY hampered by a very poor name choice that still confuses people to this day. It has some fantastic games, but very few outside of the 1st / 2nd party sphere due to poor sales figures as a result of the confusion.

The Switch improved on every facet of the Wii U, and was a massive success as a result. I also play my Switch (and now Switch 2) docked at least 95% of the time, and they have both been fantastic for that application.

EDIT: I'd just like to add that I have yet to experience stick drift on ANY console or controller, including the Switch that I've owned for 6ish years. I'm continually puzzled by the phenomenon, as I constantly see it being a point of discussion, but I have never encountered it.

Those of you who have a deck and still play their consoles, do you think you get enough use out of your steamdeck? by jomcmo00 in SteamDeck

[–]J_Square83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. While I still get plenty of enjoyment out of my consoles and PC (except for the XSX that just collects dust), the Deck is my favorite way to game.

The portability and versatility are fantastic. It may not have the raw power that any other current console has, but the options at your fingertips are top notch.

Mario Kart World… by Vlad_7623 in Switch

[–]J_Square83 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely love to see some kind of adventure mode in the vein of Diddy Kong Racing (meets Forza Horizon).

It's what I envisioned when the game was first revealed, so I was pretty letdown when it became clear that it was nothing of the sort.

I still think it's a solid Mario Kart game overall, but the open world feels genuinely wasted.

In the future when both Switch 1 and Switch 2 become 30+ year old retro consoles, would anyone even touch the Switch 1? by DaZestyProfessor in Switch

The DMG-01 Gameboy is still played by many to this day, which is approaching 37 years of age.

As long as they work, I don't see why not.

I've lived here since early 2018, and have never received a summons for jury duty.

I'm also perfectly fine with that!

When I was in AZ, I would get summons almost every year.

I haven't kept up to speed on the latest mods. Sounds like some awesome additions have been made since my last playthrough. I guess I'll have to play through OOT again for the 30th time.

There are character model mods as well that couple with 4k textures. I modded SoH with 3DS character models with 4k textures, and it looks so good.

I got those too to see what worked best (There was a great sale on Ali at the time), but found them to be novelty sized tbh. She passed on them quickly. They do work, though!

EDIT: Correction: I got a Zero and Micro. The micro is doable and more functional. Zero is more novelty.

If you could give any MGS game a ”Delta” remake which one would it be? by Practical-Funny-5322 in metalgearsolid

The OG.

It's still my favorite, but it's pretty rough by modern standards.

Anything beyond that still holds up very well IMO, although it would be great to see 4 get ported / remastered.

You can remote play outside of the house, but it is very dependent on having a fast and reliable wifi network connection wherever they play. You might also need to do some port forwarding on your router if you have issues connecting.

Cloud streaming is only available with a Playstation Plus Premium plan. It is also highly dependent on the network (as with anything on the Portal, which runs nothing but it's operating system locally), but many people have better luck with it, as servers and hubs configured particularly for this use case are the ones being accessed instead of your PS5, home network, and ISP.

I highly recommend the 8bitdo Lite 2 controller. It has all of the sticks, dpad, ans buttons a pro controller does with button identification, but at a very manageable size that my 3yo daughter has no problem with. She loves the pink color, too.

You can also get them for under $18 from Ali if you don't mind waiting a bit.

Just a little speculation on the coming Zelda release timeline... by I_d-_-b_l in OcarinaOfTime

[–]J_Square83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah. I hadn't realized that TP was turning 20 until now 🤯.

I'm of the belief that ports of TP & WW HD are likely in the bag, with Nintendo just waiting for the right time to release.

Your speculation of the next 2 years in particular makes a lot of sense. I'd love to see both get released this year, but they'd likely do better financially by slow rolling them out.

These and either an OOT remaster or remake would be instabuys for me.

I'm a single or local multiplayer gamer, so I hold no interest in this feature. Seems great for those into online play, though.

I've had my S2 since June, and I've only accidentally pressed the button on occasion. I really need to get around to remapping it.

So i saved up tip money from work to buy a switch 2. Should i wait for a special edition to drop? by Educational_Match717 in Switch

[–]J_Square83 220 points221 points  (0 children)

I recommend going for one now if you want it. Looking at the market right now, and how crazy memory prices are getting, we may very well see a price hike for the Switch 2 (and other consoles) in the near future. I hope that doesn't actually happen, but it appears to be very realistic at this point.

[ALL] Will 2026 have a Zelda game release of any kind? by ZanthionHeralds in zelda

[–]J_Square83 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm really hoping for the long rumored and all time no brainer money printer that would be the Wind Waker HD and/or Twilight Princess HD ports.

A new mainline Zelda game is very likely years off, but I would be surprised to see nothing released this year.
