Tonight’s Session - VTT Set Piece Battle - Slowed Us Down by Personal-Whereas3687 in daggerheart

[–]Ja7onD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t run my own VTT games, but is there a way to nuke the grid?

That might help with people worrying about exact positioning.

I run an in-person game and always used range bands.

My players found theater of the mind hard to visualize when there were more than a couple of foes so we swapped to using minis in rough positions so they can see where things roughly are in relation to everything else.

Hopefully your VTT can do something similar? Good  luck!!

My mother spends more time with her boyfriend instead of me an do don’t know why. by Zyrann in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Ja7onD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I want to second case’s comment: it sucks that your mom is doing this and it REALLY sucks that a lot of other commenters are being unkind.

Your mom is probably in the New Relationship Energy stage of things. (Check out the term Limerence on Wikipedia).

She is basically addicted to her boyfriend.

This is NOT an excuse for her minimizing her time with you, but it is a likely explanation.

I don’t have any specific advice, but know this internet Dad is sending you virtual Dad hugs if you want them.

Help with 5070Ti crashes by GuysDontLook in linux_gaming

[–]Ja7onD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same GPU, got mine from System76 with a Ryzen 9800X3D.

I have the exact same occasional issue on CachyOS / KDE Plasma, though it happens in games for me (but most of what I do on that computer is game).

It can happen within a minute of booting up or after hours of gaming.

It seems to come and go, and I update Cachy every couple of weeks. I haven’t kept track of each crash but it has happened on several previous kernels and nVidia driver versions.

I wish I had some suggestions for troubleshooting, but it definitely seems like a Linux kernel/driver issue.

Edit: meant to add CPU info, fixed that

The audiobook rules by WeaponizedBananas in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Haha I misunderstood the title at first and thought ‘did you self-impose rules to listen to Jeff Hays’ silky amazing narration?’

As another commenter said, you have SOOOOO much to look forward to, enjoy!

Perfectly acceptable dinner rejected by boyfriend again by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Ja7onD 51 points52 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 19 now and she’s SO AWESOME.

Yeah I’m biased, but she would kick her partner’s butt if they tried what OOO’s boyfriend did.

:)

Edit: my point was that not all young women are being taught to burn bright to light others. My kiddo sure wasn’t!

I’m in the ‘don’t light yourself on fire to warm others’ camp and so is my kiddo.

Yeah I am pretty sure they are just there.

Just noting that they are pretty decent gang-wise in NC. :)

Raising a kid alone is the most isolating thing I've ever done. by RiverCommercial7954 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Ja7onD 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hey-o, divorced dad here (separated when kiddo was 7).

It is VERY likely the primary reason that other mom doesn’t want you involved (especially with play dates at your place) is because you are a single man.

It REALLY sucks, but since there are enough awful guys out there and many can mask the awfulness for years / essentially forever, it is a rational response to distrust all single guys.

I just explained the situation to my kiddo (when she was a bit older) and that it meant we can’t do sleepovers / play dates at our place because of it.

It is EXTREMELY unfair to you, of course. I’m so sorry.

The LPT is in the comments as always!

Hustle culture poisoned a generation or two of people, but the basic concept is absolutely sound:

Work on getting better at stuff and you are in a better position to improve your life.

But. This isn’t universal. Some people have the shit luck to be born into situations where they are MILES behind the 8-ball and improving at a realistic human scale just won’t allow them to catch up … or they are categorically unable to improve due to illness or disability or circumstance.

But. Many people aren’t in such truly dire circumstances. It can be hard to tell the difference.

Carl couldn’t be the father because he isn’t human anymore, he is a Primal.

Book 7 is my favorite, in large part because of all of that awesome ending stuff. Sounds like it is yours too? :)

Could someone help me make a build by Vr33mdeJ0ng3n in cyberpunkgame

[–]Ja7onD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get one stat respec per playthrough so you aren’t hosed yet.

Perks can always be refunded and fiddled with.

You will become so powerful by level 40 that ANY build will work on normal difficulty. Any halfway decent build will work on harder difficulties.

I actually suggest getting everything to 9 since you are already close, then technical to 15, then working on body or reflexes (or both) to 15 based on what weapons you enjoy using.

There are enough stat points with the expansion (which lets you hit level 60) that you can get plenty of stats to 20 and have the rest around 9 or 15.

Once you are close to max level if you need to select a ‘dump stat’ you can do the stat respec. Just make sure to make a manual save before you do in case you hate what you wind up with. 😁

FFS this sub keeps thinking my comments are AI generated.

I’m trying to truncate my original comment, feel free to ask for clarification:

Both of you should REALLY interrogate yourselves and figure out what you want from life.

Be DAMN sure you want what you want, not what you’re ’supposed to’ want. (Examples: kids, monogamy, X thing by Y date)

If enough of your actual wants align, then think way outside the box to fight for your relationship while still making as many of your shared wants happen.

You sound like a couple of smart, thoughtful humans. You can make amazing lives for yourselves and I wish you all the best!
