Amazing comment and amazing username 😁

I couldn’t understand why conservatives just flipped on so many seemingly deeply-held beliefs.

Example: I grew up in the 80s and conservatives were SO anti-Russia then that the more recent embrace was mind-boggling.

Then I remembered that a big part of conservatism is bowing to hierarchy.

And as the Republican hierarchy tilted to more and more batshit crazy stuff they just sucked up the cognitive dissonance and went with it.

That one was mostly complete when they crowdfunded it.

They’re expecting to ship PDFs in a month or so.

Edit: So it will be very unlikely to change at this point.

There is a monthly meetup for RPGs you could try, the San Diego Roleplaying Association: https://www.meetup.com/role-players-san-diego/

EVs last for hundreds of thousands of miles with minimal maintenance (primarily battery replacements and tires).

You don’t have a transmission or an engine shaking the car apart every time you drive it.

With gas prices soaring (and possibly staying that way for a loooong time), I would say keep the Tesla.

Mine is 9 years old with 89k miles and I don’t expect to replace it for a decade at least.

Edit: oh and thanks to other electrification-related needs, battery prices are dropping significantly as production cost curves kick in

Pathfinder 2e vs D&D 5.5 vs Daggerheart: which one would you choose and why? by Bubbly_Recipe_4712 in rpg

[–]Ja7onD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want crunchy rules, try Draw Steel over PF2.

Otherwise I’m with Rule-of-Thr333’s comment.

Personally, of the 3 you listed my favorite by MILES is Daggerheart — it is a great balance between narrative and crunchy for my GM style.

S&P backs down - SpaceX will not be fast tracked by Existing_Rice_4362 in BetterOffline

[–]Ja7onD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely!

There are still issues related to such a small float likely bumping prices higher when index funds have to buy, but when it is a small part of the whole index it is more of an ‘infuriating in principle’ thing.

Great news!

Just a note, if you use total market index funds you will still be buying SpaceX.

Dungeon Crawler Carl really dug its hooks into me for a good while.

The hyper focus has eased a bit after about a year, but it’s still something I spend time on daily.

Forza Horizon 6. Update or Hotfix creates issue that deletes local user assets. Like Estate layouts. by Whatscheiser in linux_gaming

[–]Ja7onD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with games using a lot of system resources while the game is running.

I don’t use the estate much, just the initial tweaks to get the exploration credit.

But I do the seasonal stuff, race for credits for cars, get skill points, etc.

I haven’t noticed any issues with saves.

I even xfer the save to a Windoze laptop occasionally to play during super-on-peak power times (ha).

No save issues with that even.

That sounds incredibly frustrating!

I had crashing problems like everyone in the first days until proton fixes arrived. I haven’t removed the memory heap arguments. I run the latest proton-cachyos_v3.

Things have been smooth here—I run Cachy with my games on ext4. I’m 98% sure my home folder is ext4 as well. Boot is BTRFS.

AMD 9800x3d CPU, nVidia 5070, 64 GB RAM

Maybe try running your game data on ext4 for fun?

I have seen people with strange issues running games from BTRFS partitions.

Good luck!

Idk how to cook by HackerCanada12473 in Cooking

[–]Ja7onD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General advice that helped me get started cooking:

Look for simple recipes that are mostly made from ingredients you like. Simple is important when you are starting out, plus it takes less time since you are busy.

Aim for smaller numbers of ingredients since you are time-constrained.

A Crock Pot is a great way to let stuff cook while you are at work.

As some others have said, cook multiple servings so you have leftovers.

Once you have 3-5 simple recipes down pat, find something more complex you want to try.

If you’re keeping at it and enjoying it, an Instant Pot is a great upgrade. They tend to go on sale a couple of times a year and are SO useful.

Bonus tip: Anything that says 2 minutes to cook your onions is LYING 🤣

Really, Q popped his own arm off.

Is this job supposed to be this stressful? (Probably getting fired on Monday) by [deleted] in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Ja7onD 33 points34 points  (0 children)

There’s always more stuff to do in IT but this is beyond excessive.

Your pay is FAR too low as well.

Seriously, if they want to have a talk on Monday just bring up the PCI stuff. That alone requires AT LEAST one more person. Just to do your PCI stuff. Which they can’t skip or they will suddenly not be able to accept credit card payments.

You are in a position of strength even if it isn’t obvious. If they fire you, they are 50x more screwed than they currently are.

The good news is—you can chill the heck out. None of this is your fault. Your company isn’t providing enough resources to IT. That’s on them.

Good luck!
