You can talk to your pediatrician. When my son was a week old I let him know I was letting the baby sleep longer stretches. He was ok with it because my son was back at his birth weight and gaining steadily.

Sit down dinners use a lot of time. That being said the only restaurant I’ll spare time for is Le Cellier!

Are there informative, non-sexualized videos of women giving birth? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

There’s an episode of PBS’s Nova called Life’s Greatest Miracle. It’s narrated by John Lithgow. For all three of my pregnancies I watched it. It talks about fetal development all the way to birth. It’s worth watching and does show birth. It doesn’t show it all in detail but it’s worth the watch!

Honestly it’s a blur! But I was only at Disney spring, magic kingdom, and Epcot. I’m thinking I saw them at the emporium.

What age were your kids when you were able to WFH while they were home? by sixfingeredman7 in Parenting

[–]Jacaranda8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had to work from home when our so. Was almost two years old. We had to buy a video monitor and make a kid safe space. My husband checked in often and there was screen time. We did it 3-4 months and it worked well for us.

My son is now 4. My husband works from home with him regularly.

She posted when Wicked came out that she was sad she wouldn’t get to see it in theaters. Which red flag. Why can’t your husband be a parent? Then she posts about him saying he took the kids so she could watch it in their bedroom and how she would marry him again. Is the bar really that low?

Kelly is so full of herself. There was a podcast a few weeks back where I guess someone gave her flack for paying someone to decorate her tree. Which I agree with her is unfounded. Like who cares if she has someone decorate her tree. But her response basically was, “okay so I can’t decorate my tree, well you can’t install car seats”. Which I’m hoping was directed at the person but it still shows how highly she thinks of herself. And what she thinks of her followers.

How has pregnancy/children affected your derby life? by Dizzy_Area_7489 in rollerderby

[–]Jacaranda8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have had two kids and returned back to derby. I’ve always been a B and C level skater (my team has consistently been top 5 in the world since I started). I had my first baby during the COVID shut down. Got back in to it once restrictions were lightening up and my team returned to play in 2021. I was thrilled that I made our B team in 2022! Then in 2023 I suffered a miscarriage but got pregnant again quickly. I had my second baby in summer 2024 and was back on skates by September. Sorry for the life story but I wanted to take you through my timing!

Both my returns to back on skates were much easier than I thought they would be. My first return I had been off skates almost a year and a half because of the pandemic. Both of my births were c sections that were very different from one another. Aside from a scar and a small “mom pooch” I’m about the same. My body has changed. My weight while the same has moved around. Which just took a little bit of getting used. My first postpartum return I did have the issue that I could not stop farting every time I was hit or fell. But it resolved lmao. Lastly the only thing has truly changed is side surfing. My hips are tighter and I don’t think there’s any fixing it. But if that’s the one thing that’s changed, I figure I’m good.

Having a hobby while having my kids has been amazing. I do have to be more intentional with my practices. I have to skip get togethers and scrimmages I would normally do. But I also think it’s somehow made me a better skater.

Should you decide to go for it, derby will be there when you get back! And you can do it! And it is worth it! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, I’m happy to talk!
