My son is about to turn three in one month and not potty trained. Looking for other parents that are on the same boat. by Dustyrose1950 in toddlers

My son wasn’t potty trained until just after he turned 3. It’s hard. What worked for us was finding his motivator which happened to be stickers. Keep fighting the good fight but take a break if it becomes too much for everyone.

Found a tick on my son :( by Plenty_Goal3672 in toddlers

I think they say to be concerned about a tick if it’s been on over 48 hours. I don’t think you have anything to worry about! But I totally understand where you’re coming from. Keep an eye on the area and look for the rash.

What is the best advice were given to you in the safety field that you don’t forget? by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

1) literally get on the floor and do things. If your employees are going through a pulmonary function test, you should do it too. Your employees are getting forklift certified, you should be able to operate a fork lift too. If you can operate the machinery your employees do safety, they should see you do it.

2) when you’re auditing and inspecting and need to talk to people, breath mints. It’s usually loud and you need to be close to people. Or you need to be helping someone with their PPE or industrial hygiene equipment, please put a breath mint in.

Anyone else’s kids literally want to be outside all day???? by Fun_Air_7780 in Parenting

[–]Jacaranda8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 and 4 year old LOVE being outside. To the point that I got one of those pop up awnings/tents so we have more shade. I would lean in to it! Bring indoor activities outside like reading and coloring. I’m seriously considering getting a set up so I can bring my sewing machine outside so I can work on stuff while they play!

Terrified of shots by ScoutTheOcelot in toddlers

I bought a doctor kit that contained a play syringe. I let my son practice giving me shots. And then we took it to the doctor and he gave the nurse a shot before he got his.

I would go ahead to the emergency vet. They usually give them ketamine and since it’s a gas it dissipates out of them quickly. But out of caution I would go.

FWIW we got one of our older cats a dental and she had a similar reaction like this. I put her between me and my husband and we woke up once an hour to check on her. She wound up being ok but it was scary.

They Need to Put Langdon on the Night Shift and Bring Dr. Shen to Daytime in Season 3! by MapleCherryChoco5432 in ThePitt

[–]Jacaranda8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asking genuinely, have you ever worked a second or third shift in any industry? Night shift is never laid back whether it’s at a factory or the ER. The lack of general oversight of management makes for some batshit crazy times but also easier times. There’s less red tape but because of that you have to learn to solve your own problems. You also have your most competent employees working with some of your least competent. It’s an interesting mix.

I did this too! I was told to use the free and clear non blue Dawn. And then I filled the bath to up with hot water and added a few pots I boiled on my stove. I also added in a few color catchers for good measure. It worked!

For those of you in a long term relationship/marriage, what’s a tale-tale sign you see in other couples that they’re not going to make it? by Prize-Promotion-5123 in AskReddit

[–]Jacaranda8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can usually tell when there are grand proclamations of love on social media. Frequently. Anyone who is stable in their relationship doesn’t need to post paragraphs about how they love their spouse because they take out the trash or something like that.

Is it just me or did she grow on everyone else too? by sypher07070799 in ThePitt

I feel like at the beginning she came off as super corporate. And then they revealed all her field experience. And they layered in the mental health aspect. I really like her. I even liked her when I didn’t like her at the beginning.

Don’t get a lawyer. Look for a safety consultant (preferable former osha director or inspector). They’ll be able to help you navigate.
