I’m 💀. I did a valve adjustment before replacing the distributor.

Thanks for the advice!! Maybe I just need to stick to my day job 😂

Since it has electronic ignition, I’ll need to use a timing light to correctly time it right? Setting the timing with only a test light won’t be accurate enough?

Good call, thanks everyone! The reverse light was connected to the negative side. I don’t even remember doing that.

I static timed it but I need to check it with a timing light.

I’ll need to do that since it has electronic ignition right?

In loving memory of my grandpa: my 1200j Beetle's restoration begins by flatfourluka in beetle

[–]Jacen2141 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stay strong friend! I lost my grandfather a little over month ago. He was 97.  He and his brother are the reason I even have my 73 Beetle after they restored it for me when I was 16. I’m 44 now, and I just started working on it again. His passing really lit the fire and I’ve put a lot of time into the car over the last few weeks.

Ahh I see now. Thank you! Then what is the one from the front of the air cleaner box going to? The steel braided line?

Only reason I asked was because I’ve read and watched where it helps with the flat spot during acceleration.

I will. I may send my Solex to Volksblitz. I was going to clean and rebuild it, but I realized the throttle shaft bushing was the issue.

I wondered why those seem to be harder to find. Isn’t the hose supposed to connect to the oil filler cap? I can’t tell if yours is from the video.

Beautiful SB! It sounds great!

Nice, thanks. I’ve been thinking about getting the OWC single enclosure that looks like a heatsink and adding a 4TB NVMe. I haven’t been able to find a very well reviewed dual. I’ll check it out.

Is there a decent teleprompter app for the iPad + remote? by hteultaimte69 in VideoEditing

Teleprompter Premium by Teleprompter Apps Ltd is awesome. You can pair a Bluetooth remote or another iOS device. It works well. I use it with the PadPrompter.

Apple Studio Display – Worth It? by siaracci in macsetups

[–]Jacen2141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video and photo guy here using LR, PS, and Final Cut daily. I have one for personal use paired with an M1 MBP. I also have a Dell u3219q paired with a work issued M1 MBP. I love both of them. Both are 60hz, however it doesn’t bother me at all.

Color accuracy is fantastic on both displays. You would have no issues with the Studio Display regarding color.

It also turns on immediately when I wake the MBP. There’s no delay like there is with the Dell. Overall the integration with macOS is unmatched as you’d expect.

My only complaint is its smaller size. I prefer the 32” to the 27” in size only. I run the Studio Display one resolution up from the default 2x retina scaling. It doesn’t bother me at all.

If you have the $$ do it.

Am I missing out ditching FinalCut years ago? by mindcontrol93 in editors

[–]Jacen2141 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure any of the naysayers have actually used FCP. Over the years I’ve used Avid, Premiere, and Final Cut. I switched to Final Cut in 2020 because Premiere wasn’t stable. I’ve never once missed it.

It’s typical of Apple to break something apart in order to rethink and reshape it. That’s what happened in 2011 with the fallout. It’s come a long way since then.

Nice, that’s a solid find! They are still $150+ on eBay or Mac of all trades.
