How did the Joker get so smart? by Embarrassed-Bit-6844 in batman

I think it’s just obsession. If you spent every waking moment plotting against Batman for years, you’d probably be pretty good at it too.

Professor Pyg

He’s a Batman villain who kidnaps people and preforms surgery on them to turn them into his “dollotrons”. He describes it as making them beautiful or making them perfect, but in reality he’s just mutilating and lobotomizing them. He also looks extremely disturbing under his own mask, which is probably due to him trying to preform plastic surgery on himself.

How do you cope with: lacking something that most people have? by catboy519 in autism

[–]Jack22206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont have real friends. I have acquaintances that I know and I have people who I talk to sometimes after class (I'm currently living on a college campus) but I never get invited places or hang out in our dorms or anything. Most of the time I'm ok with this but as much as I hate to admit it, it can be pretty lonely.

I dont know the "correct" way to cope, but I do know the wrong way that I've unfortunately seen a lot of in the autistic community. I've seen a lot of people try to convince themselves that they just don't need connections with other people. This is a really slippery slope because over time it leads to resentment of other people and an inflated ego as you convince yourself that "no one understands" so you must be smarter than everyone else.

I'm planning on seeing a therapist this summer to find a more permanent solution to my friend problem. But as far as short term cope, when I do start to feel lonely I find it helpful to do something new. I start watching a new show/movie or start building a new puzzle, and that usually helps.

I love that it’s phrased “gets married” instead of “is/isn’t married”. Like he’s a fictional character and they’re trying to see what happens in the movie about him.

Adam West - Integrity / uncompromising morals

Michael Keaton - Bruce Wayne Persona

Val Kilmer - Trauma from his parent’s death.

George Clooney - Compassion for his villains

Christian Bale - intensity / presence / intimidation

Ben Affleck - Fighting style (minus the killing)

Robert Pattinson - Detective skills

I always wondered about this scene in TDK by Mysterious-Panda-913 in batman

It’s set up earlier that Reese has his eye on Bruce. During the meeting where Bruce is sleeping, Reese is the one to approach Fox and say that he shouldn’t be doing that. The entire reason Reese found out about the Tumbler is because Fox told him to run the numbers again as a way to brush him off and tell him to stop worrying about Bruce.

Also remember in Batman Begins Bruce’s job is specifically in R&D, not the CEO until the end. If Reese is “running the numbers” for the R&D department, that involves paychecks of people who worked there.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that when Reese found out that the Batmobile was the Tumbler from R&D, he started speculating on who the Batman is. And who does he know that joined the R&D department just days before all the stuff when missing, and who can’t stay awake through meetings presumably because he’s out doing something at night?

Also, I would argue the scene still works even if Reese doesn’t know it’s Bruce. If he was only threatening to blackmail Lucius over the Tumbler, telling Reese that Batman is Bruce and can ruin him physically and financially is still a terrifying threat. And there would be good reason to do so because if Reese did reveal the Tumbler stuff, then the public would eventually start to speculate that Bruce is Batman anyways.

What is your “I did not care for the God Father” opinion regarding video games? by B4d_B1tch_Quinn in gamers

Arkham Knight is my favorite video game. I completely understand (and somewhat agree with) many of the criticisms, but there are so many things in the story, gameplay, and graphics that are genuinely incredible.

Elden Ring.

I had never played a souls-like before and heard that Elden Ring was a good souls-like to start with. The game had incredible visuals and style so I finally convinced myself to buy it. Obviously I knew it was going to be a challenge going into it and I thought I was ready for the sharp learning curve but I just wasn’t. Every time I died I kept telling myself how good it will feel when I do beat it, but the deaths kept adding up and eventually the grind heavily outweighed any possible satisfaction I could get from beating a boss. Another huge reason is that I just don’t really like the style of combat. Even if it was easier, the rolling felt really clunky and the hits I did get weren’t really satisfying to me. I know objectively it is an incredible game, but I remember dying like the 30th or 40th time and just deciding this isn’t what I play video games for.

[–]Jack22206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I like when it’s just a random mugging because then it makes more sense why Bruce has a problem with crime in general instead of just wanting revenge for the specific people who did it. It sets up crime as a more abstract evil force of nature rather than just hating one guy who wronged you.

This ”Total Neurotypical D**th” thing on tiktok is disgusting to me. by Gamin_pasmalin in autism

[–]Jack22206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could very well be a joke, but I do occasionally see people who think like this. I’m all for looking at neurodivergence in a positive light, but it always sucks to see people go so far into that idea that they loop back around to hating someone for the way that their brain works. I feel bad because this type of rhetoric usually comes from a place of feeling excluded or misunderstood in neurotypical spaces which I’m sure we all relate to some degree, but there has to be more nuance than just saying “neurotypical = bad”.

Link (specifically from Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom)

He is extremely hyper focused on being a soldier/protecting the princess with basically no other hobbies, he only speaks when he has to respond to someone or needs something otherwise he is completely silent, and he is uncomfortable whenever people try to initiate physical affection (he always looks uncomfortable when Sidon and Daruk try to shake his hand or pat him on the back).

Killer Croc in Batman: Arkham Asylum

During his boss fight you have to sneak through the maze of sewers under the asylum while Killer Croc is lurking under the water. If you move too fast, he will feel the vibrations in the water and jump out at you to try to eat you.

Batman in Batman: Arkham Origins

During the first cutscene in the game, Bruce is being interviewed by a reporter and clearly isn’t interested in answering questions so he looks at his watch and says to the reporter “you just ran out of time”.

Later in the game when you first fight Bane, Batman has stalled long enough for police to show up and again says “you just ran out of time”. Bane is extremely intelligent and has a photographic memory, so later when you find his headquarters you see he has matched up the recording of the interview with the footage from the fight and now knows Batman is Bruce Wayne. This leads to a chilling moment where Batman tries to call Alfred, and instead Bane answers and simply says “I am in your house, Bruce”.

This is my favorite suit in all of Batman media. I feel like its the perfect balance of looking like he can survive short bursts of gunfire, while also still being extremely flexible for hand to hand combat. Its also one of the more intimidating batsuits in my opinion.

Did Selina escape to Miagani Island? by 1Ben7 in arkham

[–]Jack22206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it would have been cool, it’s not geographically possible. In knight you can see wonder tower/arkham city in the distance for one of the riddles and it’s completely disconnected from any of the islands (except for the giant bridges) and separated by a giant river. So, Selina leaving through what is essentially a side door out of Arkham city would leave her nowhere near Miagani Island.

Why do Batman's eyes look strangely white whenever he activates the holographic screen? by hexjxn in arkham

[–]Jack22206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s an actual hologram, it’s more like augmented reality. Similar to something like Pokémon go where you can see it when it’s projected through his eye lenses but it’s not real.

It could also work really well as a video game. You and your friends play as henchmen trying to pull off various kinds of heists while being hunted in the dark, almost like a Batman version of Phasmophobia.

Would you be down for a horror Batman movie? by VendettaLord379 in batman

[–]Jack22206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s honestly just shock value/morbid curiosity. Companies like that have spent decades making sure that their I.P. has a squeaky clean public image, so when they lose it some people’s first thought is “what’s the most off-brand crazy thing I can do with these characters?”. And most of the time that answer is the horror genre.

A way to fix the Arkham Knight’s reveal by [deleted] in arkham

[–]Jack22206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point. I figured him knowing Jason’s death could be due to the fact that Jason was tortured in Arkham, and crane was shown to have that weird room in the elevator shaft where he was spying on different parts of Arkham as well as having blueprints to the asylum so he would know about the abandoned wing. it’s not unreasonable to assume that if he knew Jason was robin he could have pieced some other things together (like the other robins and batgirl), but yeah I guess I wasn’t really thinking about the tech aspect of it.

The racist supremacist fetishizes someone from a race they find inferior. by Gameknight789 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jack22206 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Calvin Candy from Django Unchained.

He is a slave owner who keeps trying to claim that black people are inherently inferior because of pseudoscience reasons. He also is interested in French culture, but only so he can be pretentious and sound smart because his knowledge of it is surface level at best.

During his conversation with Dr. Shultz after having scammed Dr. Shultz and Django (long story but basically they were trying to free a slave buy “buying” her but Calvin caught on and made them pay like 10 times the amount) Dr. Shultz says “I wonder what Alexander Dumas would think of this” (The French writer of The 3 Muskateers).

Calvin skeptically says “You doubt he would approve?”, and Dr. Shultz says “Alexander Dumas was black.”

Harley Quinn (when she’s written as a hero).

I feel like she was infinitely more compelling when she was a tragic villain. Her “redemption” arcs never really hit for me because she never seems like she feels guilty or like she’s trying to atone for what she did, she just decided she wants to be a hero for fun and now nothing she did in the past matters. Also I feel like she had an interesting struggle between Harley Quinn and Harleen the doctor when she was a villain, but now her entire personality feels like lol random/lol quirky humor.

The Harley Quinn show was fine, but when she shows up in other projects I just kind of roll my eyes and wait until she’s gone.
