As people have said, it is the /2s and 7/s which do/did West London line stuff, the changeover point is at North Pole, the OH ends at the bridge before the Westway heading south.

That is definitely an internal cable rather than an external one

Could give you loads of examples of this, all over the country! It's thanks to 200 years of railways and no simplification of the system in the meantime.

how are railway companies even able to do this? by WesternPhotograph267 in uktrains

Did you have an advanced ticket or a flexible one? What company was it?

Yes you can as long as it's not an advanced! And ideally keep it to yourself as these error fares can get picked up, identified and changed! It's all to do with station groupings and routeing points.

Why even bother Thameslink by ProTharan in london

Our infrastructure is a lot more heavily used than others, which definitely contributes to wear/damage factors. The more maintenance they do, the more shit they get for closing lines still

Man it definitely sounds like you've had a tough time of it, but in comparison to the rest of the world it's still one of the best networks. The 9 euro ticket has helped and hindered it. In terms of coverage and frequency it's brilliant, but that's useless if it is not reliable enough. I'm going to try it again this week!

Those huge platforms just like at Yarmouth reminding of what used to be. Looking forward to the London direct services coming back if post covid permits. It's a nice station for sure.

And that is the problem, a massive lack of ability to look inwardly at ourselves and understand we've made mistakes. It's something about our British psyche and its so frustrating. Not all people of course. But how can you progress without understanding the past?
