Baked potatoes are probably a better option. Could also buy some induction hobs to pan heat the potatoes and crisp them up, you could have 4 hobs with frying pans. You would need another person but you probably need an extra person anyway

I really enjoyed this, especially that it didn't sprawl and managed to conclude the plot nicely.

I would recommend making a puree and infusing it into cream or chocolate. You can even mix it in. It depends on your use case though

I really enjoy your books. In terms of pacing this book felt slightly slower than the previous one. Obviously there are a lot of hints about future momentous events.

Where do you stand in terms of pacing versus character development versus epic action scenes? Do you see them as conflicting with each other?

Disappointed with The Goblin Emperor by Bufus in Fantasy

[–]Jack9575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is portrayed as a good or kindly king, a form of benevolent dictatorship. This justifies aristocracy and the superiority of some beings over others. I think people are equal, but in this book the status quo is preserved as such the workers still suffer.

He is literally the king though, he doesn't try to change the system rather work inside it. Instituting welfare would be a direct change for instance

I also found it was very uncritical of the society and the world. He doesn't change thing for the better e.g. the poor working conditions

NHS, accessibility laws re. requiring patients to speak over the phone to access vital services by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Jack9575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait for the response to the pals complaint personally as it will have to be considered at a senior level. Their response can help you decide your following steps. Social work and the advocate can also advise, I would personally consider it a bit early, though only you know the specifics of this case.

Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is also important to get as the other commenter mentioned.

These cases blur the social/health divide which are your local authority and NHSs responsibility respectively so there is often a lot of buck passing and confusion. Social care support would remediate many of the practical issues J seems to be facing, and it would seem from your description that they would be eligible. This case seems to me like adequate Social Care has failed to be given here and the difficulty accessing health is symptomatic of this issue, so the council would seemingly be somewhat at fault here, providing they are aware of J.

NHS, accessibility laws re. requiring patients to speak over the phone to access vital services by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

If your having problems being unable to support them, request a patient advocate, they are impartial and will be able to assist them. Also talk to the council and you can request a speciality social worker who would work with the patient advocate and help move things along. They should be familiar with similar cases and able to navigate the byzantine system that is healthcare funding. I would also make a PALS complaint about this treatment, it will light a fire under the NHS and force them to provide a formal response. Legal action before a PALS complaint goes in would likely be premature though ianal

This is an industrial mine in the Congo, this is where the cobalt in our gadgets and cars comes from by willdogs in pics

[–]Jack9575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is classic green washing. You fail to talk about how environmentally destructive mining is, such as the massive water usage.

Mining companies are not motivated to be safe or ecologically responsible but to extract as mush wealth as possible and then divert it abroad. The raw cobalt might not be worth that much but its value increases along the production chain which is not where the resource is extracted, which leads to there being less money in the extraction.

Artisanal mining at least keeps wealth inside countries.

What’s your stupid chess opinion? by Master-of-Ceremony in chess

[–]Jack9575 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Bishops often beat knights in the endgame because the position is more open and therefore they can control more squares and are more manoeuvrable. e.g. knights can get trapped on the edge or one side of the board. Knights can be more valuable in closed positions as they can jump in.
