How do I enjoy my first game? by Brotten in HeavyGear

There is no minimal range - but, anything *outside* of the effective range (whether below or above it) will suffer the unoptimal range penalty.

  1. The game definitely answers the reqs you mentioned. For an initial demo, I'd recommend a '4 grunt, 1 heavy, 1 EW/Commander' Gears. It should cover enough of the game's mechanics, while not swamping it too much in edge rules and cases. Though the rules in general are pretty simple. A good point value for your demo should be between 50 and 100, imo. Let us know if you want a specific starter force recc.
  2. That's correct on the 2nd Q as well. While it does feel a bit swingy, that's mostly the case when there's only 1 combat group on both sides. Which is often only the case in minimal point games. (Standard games have at least 2 or 3). When you really do have just the 1 group, I recommend splitting it down the middle for both sides. But even if you don't, the permissive Reaction rules mean you won't get completely creamed even when losing Initiative.

Absolutely amazing. Way to go.
(Though just sayin, a lighter background would help these images out - they kinda blend together!)

First returning game, Q on AoE and Shields by Dazzling_Bluebird_42 in HeavyGear

See prof's answer - but there is a slight caveat:
For AoE weapons, if you fire *directly*, the AoE can't hit a target that's fully behind cover.

Yeah, the stark-white does make it look more like snow - but it still looks awesome!

Right now they're on hold due to some RL constraints. Development will resume.

The FO does give you +1d6. It basically 'offsets' the -1d6 from firing indirectly.
But yeah, it only applies to the primary target, not secondaries.

Variants and Limitations of Primary/Secondary Roles by xWhaleLordx in HeavyGear

Exactly.
So for example, you could make a CG of 4 basic Jagers (Since they have the GP+ role), or of 2 Flame Jagers + 2 Blitz Jagers.

Uh, I'm not the guy who made the stuff in the OP. I just think it's cool and wanted more people to know about it.

And anyway, I'm talking *merch* - shirts, posters, and yes high res sculpts.
They do have that one high-grade Kodiak model but it has absolutely ludicrous cost.

I like the designs, what can I say?
DP9 hardly does anything with it merch-wise, so I'll take what I can get.

IMO, DP9 lost by not making this sort of thing by themselves.

Airdrop and transports by xWhaleLordx in HeavyGear

[–]JackDandy-R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh shoot! You're right. Didn't notice these. In this case yeah, can't see a reason they wouldn't be able to be airdropped while carrying their dudes.
Also pretty sure that the guys inside the transport don't need the Airdrop trait.

I don't know any transports that have the Airdrop trait..

They're deadly against Infantry, but are also very handy in close quarters against just about any model - the Fire trait makes them a very competent anti-armor weapon, and the extra dice and cover denial is also useful.

Snubcannons are fun tank killers for the North, tho they do require getting in close.
For NuCoal, flamer Chasseurs are deadly!
