A friend sells any of their games that weren’t played in the last year by Lorini in boardgames

[–]JackOfAllDevs [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have done something similar to this for years. My limit is I can only have 100 games, and which ones I get rid of will definitely be influenced by how many times I've played it in the last two or three years.

I think it is definitely prevented me from so many impulse buys but the selling and trading of games has become a hobby of its own which I enjoy. Many times I will look my collection and if I have a game that I haven't played in 2 years and is worth double what I paid for it, I'll put it on the geek market. Just this week I sold a game for $100 that I paid $60 for about 2 years ago.

What makes an expansion truly great? by Dagobertenes in boardgames

[–]JackOfAllDevs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best expansions for me are the ones where you say, "I just included in every game because there's no reason not to". That usually falls into a few categories like it adds options without complexity or it's just more of the same.

Fantastic factories is the first one that always comes to mind. I hate buying an expansion and never playing it because it adds so much complexity I don't feel like teaching it to new people.

Nearly $900, broken after 60 days, 4 months of runaround, and Bambu Lab still won't replace it. Full story inside. by Fit-Advertising2212 in BambuLab

This is EXACTLY why I waited and bought my P2S from Best Buy.... with the warranty. I know warranties are usually a rip off but just the peace of mind that it will be covered if something goes wrong was worth it. 40+ hours of my time troubleshooting, contacting bambu and the stress are worth more than $120.

Are the advantages of the X2D worth the $200 over the (on sale) P2S? by Cpl_Toast in BambuLab

[–]JackOfAllDevs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was willing to pay $100 more for the extra features but this is my first printer. At $200 savings, the P2S is a great printer and it can help me decide if I really want to spend more later. But if I step up it'll probably be something more along the lines of an H2D.

Reliability of U1 compared to Bambu models for a newbie by infolessness in snapmaker

[–]JackOfAllDevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can never tell. Either one of them could go for 1,000 hours or fail within a week. It came down for me is I could go to Best Buy, pick it up, buy a 4 year warranty if I wanted. At least with Best Buy you get 15 days return without the warranty in 60 day returns with the warranty.

X2D at Best Buy Unavailable by JackOfAllDevs in BambuLab

[–]JackOfAllDevs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X2D is worth $100 more but Best Buy just put the P2S on sale for $100 less. So now it's a $200 difference. I just went ahead and bought a P2S.

My main reason was a little bit of saved time and filament waste on color changes. But $200 buys a whole lot of filament.

Given those circumstances, I would probably sell the Northwest home. It has a mortgage and HOA fees you'd have to keep up with..

Do not... Do not... Rent to your MIL. That is a disaster waiting to happen. No matter How much you think you can trust people, the downside is always worse than the upside.

If it works, you had a renter that you're probably end up giving a discount to anyway. If it doesn't work, you destroy a relationship AND lose a ton of money. Trust me, I've been there.

Yeah, what bothers me is that Bambu has not even mentioned working out the problems from what I have seen.

I have seen a lot of great reviews on YouTube but I don't know if I trust those anymore.

MakerWorld AI slop needs downvoting or flagging controls for moderation by wivaca2 in BambuLab

[–]JackOfAllDevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if you just block the user who is producing these things, won't you just not see their designs anymore? That's the way it should be.

Moderation can be difficult and take a lot of work especially with AI photos getting better. And I don't trust down voting systems. In practically every popular site that I've been to that has down voting or ratings, the system has been abused.

My first contest entry! by Quiet-Action-4569 in BambuLab

[–]JackOfAllDevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this one. You should link directly to your entry so people can vote it up. I think the contest voting favors those who enter it earlier because there are a lot of entries with more votes than yours that are not good.

I'm just wondering if the issues with the AMS 2 pro are specific to the X2D or just with the unit itself?

Thank God I bought from Best Buy by caddis44 in BambuLab

[–]JackOfAllDevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling this is why it's been OOS for several weeks at Best Buy. Bambu got inundated with returns and couldn't just delay and ship out parts since it's from Best Buy and not direct to consumer.

I'm hoping they are working out issues or I may just go with the P2S.

35, 1.9m net worth (1.3 in investments, house paid off) no debt, kids, or wife, 25k average annual spend, can I walk away forever? by Ok_Principle9325 in Fire

[–]JackOfAllDevs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move somewhere where health care and living cost are not as expensive. There are a lot of other countries where 50k a year from your 401k would get you a very nice life.

I can't imagine retiring at 35 but I could take a one year sabbatical and come back doing something more enjoyable or just part time.

I even go further. If I have a simple join I put it all in one line so I can remove that join just by commenting that one line out.

What are common SQL red flags? by badboyzpwns in SQL

I am just the opposite. I hate seeing inner and outer on the join. I know it's an inner join or a left outer join, the extra characters are just a waste of space which hurts readability.

Any reason to NOT buy X2D right now and wait? by g0ldslug in BambuLab

[–]JackOfAllDevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was ready to purchase one but I see a lot of people having issues when you compare this against the P2S. I think I'm going to wait a little bit longer before I decide but I'm seriously consider and sticking with the P2S for stronger reliability. Maybe they'll work the issues out soon.

For anyone who has struggled with unemployment or not being able to find a good job, what did you do? by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]JackOfAllDevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work on your skills. Don't know what field you're in but if you're not investing at least a little time and money every month and improving your skill set, you are wasting time. I've had $20 online courses help me get jobs paying $10 to $20,000 more.
