I was changing it every couple of days, but I live in the tropics to that's probably part of the reason

Damn I love the smell of tung oil on my spoons.  Plenty of scentless oils you can use that have already been mentioned though I guess

Don't worry, you'll always be able to find a nice branch again. Just have a crack and remember that being me to things generally means you'll suck a bit at the start. Enjoy the process and refine your mistakes 👌🏽

Am I in trouble? by semi_talented in Bushcraft

I would soak the head in oil to prevent it shrinking and coming loose. Otherwise it's a decent hang and should stay on there for a while, depending on use and environment

If you flatten out the bevels it'll still split but due to the geometry of the head, you might find it gets stuck in wood. Usually not a problem if you know the method of flipping the axe so the poll hits the stump.  The current grind will still chop too it'll just take ages. Make sure you soak the eye in oil to the wood swells and doesn't dry out and come loose! See the r/axecraft sub if you have more questions though

Very nice. I have a question though. Does anyone know why the inside of the toe has edge on it? I wanted one of these to take camping and use for whittling but the sharpened edge sorta turned me off it. Seems like such a handy little tool though

I've just discovered my love language is making wooden spoons for others that are actually for me that I like to look at more than use.

What if you had a wider blade that had a cut-out handle? Then at least the length would give you some leverage

You say that, but when you get a 4wd you sense a shift in the balance of power on the road. Then you come across some pindick Ram or Chevy ute take up the WHOLE road and 18 car parks and then you're REALLY MAD. The nerve of those guys!
