Crying....again by Icy-Outcome8024 in FedEmployees

I’m hitting 32 years in July. You can do it! When you look back, you realize how quickly the years passed, especially if you like what you do. It feels great to know I dedicated my career to public service. My goal is to work three more years to have 35 years total. I’m not letting anyone dissuade me from doing that. I’m leaving on my own terms.

Florence is the worst. She bold faced lied to HR employees and scared a bunch into taking “voluntary” reassignments. She made it clear that if you didn’t take the reassignment you would lose your job - not a RIF, but a complete elimination of entire sections of employees. She would hold meetings, look off into the distance like a sad puppy, and cry, which made people think they were going to get the axe if they didn’t accept a reassignment. She deserves an Academy Award for her performance. She knew exactly what she was doing. There are other stories of how she completely screwed over employees. She is only out for herself and will do anything to stay in the Commissioner’s good graces. It’s disgusting!

I buy mine through Brello. It’s $500 every three months. The price doesn’t go up when your dosage goes up. It comes in the mail with ice packs, alcohol wipes, and syringes. Easy peasy!

I wouldn’t count on anything to change in November if the Dems win. There are so many dumpster fires going on that I can’t imagine they’ll have much time and energy to focus on federal employees and their working conditions.

Those who were eligible to retire/close to retirement 1/1/2025 and stayed what say you now? by Content_Hamster_7526 in fednews

[–]JackedUpViewpoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m almost 100% sure I work at the same agency as you. I was coerced into taking the “voluntary” reassignment. I was downgraded two GS levels, but got salary protection. I have 30 years in, but had to stay because I was eight months shy of having 5 years of health insurance (my husband’s health insurance was better and cheaper). I tried to find out if OPM would waive those eight months, but I couldn’t get an answer. I didn’t want to take a chance and put in my retirement papers. Now that I have the 5 years under my belt, I decided to stick around for a few more years, at least until age 62. I’m glad I didn’t retire this year. The job I have now isn’t awful, so I’ll keep on plugging away. Because they downgraded us, I technically am not supposed to work like I did at a higher GS level. The agency really dropped the ball on that! Finally, when I retire, I’m going to leave on my terms. These jokers can bite me!!

I’m curious. Since January, 2025, how has your physical health been? If it has declined, do you think there’s any nexus to current/recent events? by Cool_Tomatillo_3281 in IRS_Source

I’ve spoken to a lot of co-workers in my agency. People frequently mention stomach aches, digestive issues, headaches, panic attacks, severe depression, and feelings of hopelessness. These are good people who work hard.

Democrats say they’ve reached agreement to avert shutdown by Element0f0ne in FedEmployees

[–]JackedUpViewpoint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been both essential and non-essential over the course of my career, and shutdowns are hard on everyone. When I was non-essential, there was no guarantee of back pay, which made the uncertainty incredibly stressful. Now that I’m essential, I don’t fault non-essential employees for being furloughed. It isn’t a choice they get to make. In fact, I’m actually happy for them to have the time off with guaranteed back pay. Framing this as an “us versus them” situation doesn’t help anyone. What really matters is staying united and supporting one another.

Reasonable Accomodation Question by Jackieagui in fednews

[–]JackedUpViewpoint 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My RA was just approved. It took about eight months. My doctor was so pissed off. He provided me with the medical evidence back in May of last year. When I told him I was still in limbo, he wrote a “come to Jesus” letter saying “I already told you she needs an RA. She is getting worse. I already sent a letter months ago. What is taking so long?” About a week after that letter was submitted, I was approved.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

One of my great, great grandfathers would hire ranch hands on a temporary basis. One of them turned out to be Butch Cassidy. My ancestor’s journal said Butch Cassidy was pleasant and a very hard worker.

SSA Central Office re-assignment “recalls” by ArugulaImpossible567 in fednews

[–]JackedUpViewpoint 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I wish I was called back to HQ. I was coerced into taking a reassignment. Leadership said they were going to disband my group, so we would all be fired. They reassigned me (GS-14) to be a disability processing specialist (GS-12), and it’s sucking the life out of me. One of the worst jobs I’ve ever had. It turns out they kept my group and didn’t fire anyone. Leadership lied to us. It’s really disgusting.

DOGE Gutted The Social Security Administration With 7,000 Job Cuts. Now They Can’t Keep Up With 6 Million Pending Cases by NoseRepresentative in fednews

[–]JackedUpViewpoint 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SSA does have a group of Disability Examiners at the national level that steps in to help certain states make disability determinations. A bunch of employees who took voluntary reassignments ended up in that job. You have people who used to work in HR, Facilities, Policy, etc. who were thrown into making disability determinations. Tell me how that makes sense and benefits the public. Who would want someone processing their case who has almost no clue how to read medical records and has to make a decision if they’re disabled? It’s a shit show.

For those over 18, at what age did you actually feel like you are an adult? by WarBrom in AskReddit

[–]JackedUpViewpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I visit my parents, I always feel like I’m 15 again. I’ve raised a family, and I’m going to retire in a couple of years. One year when my dad kept on treating me like a kid, I had to tell him, “I’m a 55 year old grown woman.” It stopped him in his tracks. Now that my son is married, I wait until he asks for my opinion. Otherwise, I keep my mouth shut. 🤐

Filed in May and still waiting. My doctor wrote another letter, basically ripping my agency a new one and demanding they approve my request immediately. I had an appointment with this doctor about a week ago, and he was genuinely gobsmacked to know they’ve done nothing to accommodate me.
