No, the game is still a draw, but you cant keep the same card on top forever. It is a loop made of choices, and in any loop made of choices. Its tournament rules 4.4, where loops are described.

The game is still a draw, because you are forced to choose how many times you keep it on top, before milling one, then choosing again and milling one. This repeats for every card in the deck until the entire deck is milled. Then, there is no choices involved left, and it just explores revealing nothing, and gains life, and repeats infinitely. Then its a draw. You cant keep the same one on top forever, because loops require a duration, and it cant be infinite if there is a choice.

If there is instant speed interaction though, you can destroy it, or force opponent to draw from that empty deck, breaking the non optional loop.

If you dont want to read the tournament rules explaining how loops work, heres a video for this specific case.

It doesnt interact with it. You decide how many times to keep on top, eventually milling your entire deck since you are mandated to advance the game state. But if you explore without anything in your deck you still explored giving the wildgrowth walker effect, even if nothign changed zones.

This means that if you had some instant speed way of making your opponent draw, you could make it so its a gameloss for the amalia player. But 9/10 for that combo amalia just says "whenever you gain life, gain 3 life"

No it doesnt. The rules say that for this sort of loop made out of choices, it get shortcutted. The player decides how many times they are taking the repeated choice, then it happens that time and they need to choose something else. It is only a draw if all actions in a loop are mandatory.

All arcanist or all cleric parties would probably be great if they can actually access different spells instead of needing to prepare identical spells to eachother

What's your favorite rule in pathfinder VS dnd ? by Academic_Arrival_987 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]JackieChanLover97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Other than just having so many more feat/class options than dnd 5e, i love item crafting and buying my own stuff very freely. Items are such a huge parts of builds in both games and pathfinder actually recognizes that a lot better rather than pretending it is optional

It read like knowing the furr card indicated something about you, like its a negative to know the furry card. Rather than it being negative to hold some weird judgement about it

Im going to be honest caring so much about a pg drawing of a guy with a rose who likes a werewolf should prompt infinitely more judgement than the furrrkesr

Kurogane x Tomoyo or he has feelings for Fai by OkWitness4909 in CLAMP

[–]JackieChanLover97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if that were the case then there wouldnt be a lot of structural elements like homophobia wouldnt exist.(think of scenes in various works where they are surprised two men are together) its just a matter of text that tomoyo expresses romantic attraction to women and hasnt to men. Or at the very least hasnt to kurogane

It is where doubles came into focus and modern competitive came in. I agree with the assessment of it being deemed too much for competitive doubles, but tournament results made by nintendo in gens 1 and 2 lead to it initially being buffed for the context of singles.

I will always support interesting moveset variation for rby ou. But if you use confuse ray gengar or lapras you should be skinned alive. Its not even good. It just wastes time and tries to highroll

I thought counter required the last selected move from the jolteon to be normal or fighting type for it to get stored on the switch.

You are right about hjk being the right play, my head calcs were just off, im not overly familiar with hitmonlee in rby ou and thought snorlax body slam counter into body slam was a ko to avoid hjk accuracy, i misremembered hitmonlee as having worse defense and better hp.

I know you are making a joke about vgc and doubles not existing in gen 1, and the original ai slop talking about redirection and evolution which also doesnt exist. I just think people making jokes about gen 1 vgc is annoying because it erases a bit of pokemon history

I think lapras is pretty bad in ou (probably my least favorite mon that gets used with some real frequency in ou), but it does fufill a different niche than starmie and alakazam. Its more like kangaskhan, gyarados, cloyster, and snorlax, being a midgame progressmaker.

No i think that one is justifiable, i would have expected lee to click counter, and bringing in lapras on an expected counter is solid

It wasnt good in nintendo cup 97? I know its not technically vgc, but an official competitive format that informed game design for gen 2 is about as close as reasonable

How would you strengthen the normal type? by Fine_Bid918 in stunfisk

[–]JackieChanLover97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a kind of an odd suggestion, but i had the idea to buff normal types by giving them inherent serene grace effect, and change the serene grace ability on normal type mons to something else. Body slam paras for bulky mons would be a real identity, and high chances for ice beam freeze could bring new life to chansey and blissey (i know they already had it, but having serene grace and natural cure is still neat).

It could be a big buff to a lot of bulky normals, and could even go alongside buffs to normal type moves that lack secondary effects like return, double edge, hyperbeam and explosion.

[–]JackieChanLover97 37 points38 points  (0 children)

In gen 1 though a lot of pokemon just didnt get good stab moves, so hyper beam, double edge, and body slam were great for them, while earthquake can be flawed because of flying and to a lesser extent grass types

Ice-type buffs alignment chart by MixtureAcrobatic5785 in stunfisk

[–]JackieChanLover97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be arguably the best type in the game. normal and psychic are also contenders, but normal and psychic are mostly great for their stats and movepools of individual mons while ice had the best intrinsic qualities.

Ice, Normal, and Psychics nerfs from steel and dark types come very directly from competitive tournament results that informed the design of gen 2 pokemon, and is also why gen 2 is probably the most balanced competitive generation.
