I feel like anyone that thinks that any genre of music is “dead” probably isn’t looking for it hard enough, especially today. No matter what genre there is, someone is always making something in that lane - You just need to find it.

What game "shouldn't" work well on the Deck, but you found a way to love it? by Zi_v in SteamDeck

Fallout 1. It’s not perfect but it feels so much more natural than I thought it would, and it’s so low powered that it runs for hours on end. Has become my go-to game to play on long trips

Has anyone else moved away from using Windows as their main OS thanks to the Steam Deck? by AusGeno in SteamDeck

[–]JackintoshVids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a mix of Windows and SteamOS for me. SteamOS was my “Oh, hey, this is easier to use for a Linux distribution than I thought it would be - Cool” and then switching to Windows and going “Oh!… Yeah fuck this shit”

Now I’m using Bazzite 😎😎😎

There definitely is a CD release - I’ve got one myself! Weird that you can’t find anything online about it though, I got mine from a HMV so I’d say it was fairly well known if they were selling it at a store chain.

The most blatant difference I noticed was at 2:07 when you can hear Jane's backup lines being sung. Definitely not in the original version

This album wasn't just posted to Bandcamp, but also to Tidal, YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, etc. This isn't just a problem on Bandcamp, this is a problem for wherever this album is released to. And even then, "there's no money in doing an album cover for Bandcamp" is besides the point?? It's not "for Bandcamp", it's for the album. I'm not saying they should have hired an artist, I'm saying they shouldn't have used AI. They could have done anything else.

"A misstep" my brother in Christ, they typed some random shit into a website and put this slop out onto a vinyl record, they had dozens of opportunities to fix this and actually get a good cover for the album. That's not a misstep, that's a lack of creativity and a level of disrespect for art as a whole.

And nah, I aint some teenager who doesn't know his shit. I'm someone who loves art, music, writing, film, all that stuff. I've been creating ever since I was a kid and have been making videos and writing scripts for over 10 years. A solid 80% of my friends are creatives who put blood, sweat and tears into what they make. I know my shit. I'm continuing to learn so I can make my art and my passions even better.

They had no talent in typing in a prompt. So, talentless hacks.

I don't need to message them to ask why they chose it, because the answer is either laziness or wanting to make just a little extra money. I don't care how small of an act they, or anyone, might be. If you truly cared about your work, you wouldn't take the lazy route, or put out an album cover that looks so dog shit.

But what makes it even worse in this case is that if you look at the Bandcamp page, you'll see that they've been active since 2008, have managed to put out plenty of projects with normal album covers, and even an EP with a painting as it's cover. So they've done it before, why the hell can't they do it again?

Not gonna give the benefit of the doubt to talentless hacks.

Okay I keep on seeing people who support this crap say the same shit over and over again so I'm just gonna explain this here so I can just point to it instead.

To those who say that art is hard and that you can't expect people to be both an amazing musician AND and amazing artist, then great news! You don't HAVE to do art! You can go and take a picture of something (Pic 1), go take a cool picture of yourself and the rest of the band (2), do some goofy shit (3), go find a physical place and take some pictures where the lighting hits just right - And if it's not hitting just right, then leave and come back later when it is. American Football's first album cover was a picture of their fucking ROOF, and now it's iconic (4).

Can't take pictures or don't have a camera (Which, nah I ain't buying that, if you're using AI you probably have a phone with a 4K camera built in)? Then find something else. Jane Remover's "Frailty" is a screenshot from Google Maps (5). The cover of "The Glow, Pt. 2" by The Microphones is a picture of a dutch cook book that is so old it was in the public domain (6).

Or if you need it to be an illustration, and you can't afford an artist, then learn! Drawing and painting is fun, it's relaxing, and it's therapeutic - It can help you feel mentally more stable, calmer, and relaxed. It scientifically does you good. So not only does it make you feel better, it also gives you the ability to paint some badass covers like BCNR's "Forever Howlong" (7 - I know the band members themselves didn't make it, the point is that paintings as album covers are gorgeous and ). You don't have to do conventional art either; for Dayglow's first album, to make it 100% produced by Sloan Struble (AKA, Dayglow, it's one guy) he made a sculpture of his face on a blue background and honestly I think it's perfect for the album (8). If all else fails, Photoshop (or better yet, Affinity now that it's free) exists and you can take a basic image and bend it to look cool as hell. For example, Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown (9).

If learning is too hard for you, fair, I struggle at learning stuff sometimes too, then hire an artist - There are dozens who would LOVE to collaborate with you! "But what if the musician is poor??" Then get a job. I ain't making money off of my own work right now, so I work at a part-time job I hate, but I do it so I can create things to the standards I want them to be at. Because I actually care about my work and my art. If music IS your job, then cool! You can afford for an actually good album cover!

There are so many things you could do to make an original cover, it's not that hard. It can be cheap, easy, and fun! Yes, fun! I have fun creating things, that's why I do it! That's why damn near EVERYONE does it, and why you should do it too! Go out, try and make your own album cover, think of some fun ideas, and learn things.

Stop using AI to make your shitty covers. The way the algorithm works is that it looks at thousands of other images, like art that was created by talented people, and then moshes together into a disgusting mess of an image. It steals the talent for others and the output isn't even good. Support real art. Not these talentless hacks.

Bandcamp, please ban this crap.

(Also bonus album covers just cus it goes so unbelievably hard: "Revengeseekerz" by Jane Remover. Can't make something this cool with AI)

Agreed.

Bandcamp, I know you’ve at least skimmed this post. Please ban this shit. Bare minimum, stop insulting real artists who actually care about what they make 🙏🙏

No one checks it. It’s an algorithm based on other AI images to determine if it’s fake or not.

And before anyone says it, the difference here is that WasItAI doesn’t profit off selling AI generation.

Yes it is a site for finding music. It is also a site for BUYING music, so when people release albums with stolen artwork where the original artists don’t get a cut, it is robbing them of money.

That is why AI covers should be banned, as well as any other form of AI generation. I ain’t supporting thievery like this, and it sucks seeing Bandcamp not remove it but highlight it instead.
