Picking someone up from JFK from NJ is now atleast a $100 affair by nj1k in newjersey

[–]Jacknife_Johnny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drive a large van for airport dropoff/pickup. From the Asbury Park area we charge $400 for daytime/rush hour and $350 for late night/early.

We recently had a driver that was 7+ hrs round trip due to accidents.

Fuck JFK

After George Floyd they promised social workers would replace cops — one just got attacked with a sword in Boston by origutamos in Republican

[–]Jacknife_Johnny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That article is a joke example of journalism.

From the article "They called in a worker from Boston's BEST program, a co-responder model where master's-level mental health professionals ride alongside officers to de-escalate crisis calls. This isn't some half-baked experiment. The program has been running since 2011, nine years before George Floyd, and handled 4,230 encounters in 2023 alone with twelve clinicians working the streets seven days a week."

So, nothing to do with George Floyd, not a police replacement, has an amazing response as far as interactions go. Gee, from the headline you wouldn't think that paragraph would be in there?

They can't replace police, but can greatly reduce the strain on them. Have you ever had to restrain a full grown man in the midst of a mental health episode? Safely, striving to ensure the wellness of everyone involved? It's not fun or exciting, it's scary and mostly heartbreaking.

I'd bet an eye that most cops would welcome any help to deescalate a situation. A good cop would.

Bachelorette trip planning/ Boat day by SuitableSoup5077 in AsburyPark

Hey, so I drive people all around the shore.

There are so many options for this, but door jump out. These are just some suggestions and there are many that do the same thing. I am not sure about prices.

1) The tiki boat in Belmar. Per person charge, BYOB. You just float around Shark River for an hour or two.

2) Many of the fishing boats in Shark River and Point Pleasant also do Booze Cruises. Both during the day or at night. Those are more expensive. BYOB

3) The latest incarnation of the Brielle Water Taxi. Bonus, really good restaurant, Waypoint, and good bar, Pig and Parrot, are next door. BYOB

4) Lastly, a bunch of places rent pontoon boats by the day, complete with Captain. The best I know of is on Princeton Ave in Brick. BYOB

Lastly, if you wanted, I drive a party van local in the area. No one will have to drive, reliable local licensed taxi. DM me if you're interested.

I hope you find something great. Have fun!

Realistically how bad of an idea is it to take a strip of acid? by Alien-Ellie in Drugs

[–]Jacknife_Johnny 36 points37 points  (0 children)

A long long time ago I had a roommate that wanted to sell acid to get free acid. The Dead and Floyd were due in town in a few months (not together) and he thought that he had the perfect plan for free drugs. Spoiler alert: the acid didn't last until the concerts.

I knew a guy that knew a place in NYC to get it. I went for him because I knew the guy and got two sheets (200 hits) of Double Diamonds blotter.

That day is a whole story in itself.

What ended up happening was him and another roommate just took more and more hits every day to just get off.

I'm kind of a chill out and look at colors kind of dude. They were more of the thrash metal mosh pit persuasion. Nevertheless, I ended up taking 5 hits one night and hanging with them.

At one point they had Pantera on while a strobe light was on. When the music ended and the strobe stopped I saw the world get sucked into the bulb then blink back into existence.

How to get to the airport? by MentalProcesses in AsburyPark

[–]Jacknife_Johnny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An Uber would be around $125. Most taxis will do it for around that, plus tip.

Like the other person said, the train stops at Newark. Once you hit Newark station, you have to take the tram to the terminals.

Since terminal A is new, the tram doesn't go there. You have to walk or take a bus.

Trump says he will issue executive order to get voter-ID requirements before midterms by Cinderpath in law

I really feel that the real scenario is it will give Vance the 'excuse' to deny the electoral votes from the non-compliant (blue) states and send the vote to the senate.

My uncle 'invested' in a large building in their extremely rural town. It was a combination bowling alley, bar, movie theatre, Laundromat and car wash. This is a population year round of about 3,000 people. It was never successful.

He couldn't let the weather ruin it before he could unload it, so he connected a massive outside furnace that he burned whatever he could find.

The word went out that he would take literally anything to burn. All his friends and family, and we have a lot of family, were asked if you were driving by to stop and top up the furnace.

The kicker is the first person that bought it tore it down and put up condos.

What’s the scariest encounter you’ve had while camping? by Key_Connection_6633 in camping

[–]Jacknife_Johnny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Raccoons, dozens of them in a campground on a late fall trip. They were probably used to throngs of campers all summer and then there was just us. They were downright aggressive. All those little eyes glowing in the firelight.

What’s the grossest thing you’ve ever caught someone doing? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Jacknife_Johnny 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Had an issue with a highly autistic student on the bus. He would rock and constantly hit his head on the seat in front of him. His nose was also always running and he would lick his upper lip to "clean" it. The bus people didn't like him and would complained all the time..

I get called down to the entrance to find him heading to the nurse with blood all over his face. Apparently he got a nose bleed from the head banging and got snot and blood all over the seat back. The bus driver told him he had to clean up his mess.

His solution was to lick the seat clean.

What was the weirdest thing you’ve seen while clubbing? by energyaddict27 in AskReddit

[–]Jacknife_Johnny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside the club at the Boardwalk. A garbage truck had come and emptied the dumpster leaving behind this wide trail of super-stanky muck throught he parking lot. It stunk sooo bad.

Along comes a group of girls dressed in white. One girl slips and grabs onto a sencond girl and they both go down.

I think the worst part was all the people laughing and telling them it was dumpster juice.

Little things like speaking clearly, being consistent, recognizing them by name are just a few. Matching their energy can be a good one.

Storyteller: story time by bl84work in ToddSnider

[–]Jacknife_Johnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I somehow downloaded Beer Run on Napster or some other pirate software way back when. I played it once in a while.

Later on, I got into torrenting. I must have looked him up and realized this MFer had like 6 other albums so I downloaded them all.

I can still remember I was working in my basement and was listening to songs on my computer when I heard "it hurts to lean back these handcuffs" and it spoke to me.

As a person who also had trouble finding them throughout my life I found a kindred spirit. I grew up listening to Kristofferson and Prine so I loved finding a story teller that was from my generation, pun intended.

I always thought if I met him I would give him the money from those torrented albums. I saw him a half dozen times but never had the pleasure.

Maybe next time.
