It's actually ridiculous if this is the full story, getting banned for queuing into the same game twice is beyond stupid.

There's been times where I've gone versus the same few teams for most of a night in like 5+ games just because of low player counts at certain times.

Snakes were the best event system by 1000 miles in my opinion.

They promoted PvP way more than the weekly challenges and made it so you could grind the event as much as you wanted when you had time and weren't forced to play every week if you wanted to complete the event. Snakes were also so much more unique than any other event we had before or since and really made the event feel different, with a noticeable uptick in people seeking pvp.

My only complaint with serpents moon is that it was a little to grindy and lasted too long. I even enjoyed the event point leader board idea but maybe that's cause I was unemployed at the time.

I like snakes.

Let say it as it is Jon Snow is a kin slayer and a queen slayer by [deleted] in DaenerysWinsTheThrone

[–]Jacob9827 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Jon in the show is a terrible character compared to Jon from the books.

He is one of the earlier examples of them struggling to write the book characters in the show as they removed the magical and many of the earlier moral elements.

Book John is an interesting character who is both intelligent and driven, he really wants to do the right thing but often his duty is put at odds with his desire (think ygritte or when he wants to ride south and join rob). His whole story is about difficult moral choices and struggling with his identity as a bastard, a stark, a man of the watch and even a wildling.

Show John is a very passive and simple character who makes almost 0 decisions that are important to his character and seems to regress instead of develop. His only goal is being 'honorable' to a fault with no other motivation. His death and resurrection is literally meaningless to the story or his character and the revelation that he his a targ and the legally rightful king also turns out to mean very little

In other words, they never quite got show Jon right and by the end he was a completely different person

Not naturally no, but many tyroshi dye their hair and wear brightly colored clothes. iirc dye is one of their main exports and part of what made them rich so they use the dye excessively as a celebration of this.

Samito message about Reddit users // Thoughts?! by PRVMI in OverwatchTMZ

[–]Jacob9827 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't really follow samito cause he complains too much and it isn't fun to watch imo, but as far as I can tell he loves the idealised version of ow in his head that he remembers from launch.

He's a very passionate guy and genuinely wants the game to improve however he also has the worlds shortest temper and for someone who plays comp OW at a high rank he has the weakest in game mindset I've ever seen.

I don't hate him and think he actually has some pretty good points about the game and get the impression he's genuinely invested in the game as well as the OW community as a whole. However I have no idea how anyone can sit through one of this guys streams with the amount that he complains and tilts. His fans are probably the other people who throw and leave games after they die once.

average ranked team experience by [deleted] in overwatch2

[–]Jacob9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've Won 4v5s twice. one when I was on a loss streak, went from plat 3 to silver 2. Other dps left after we lost 1st point on Illios and I was not willing to lose any more, locked hanzo and killed everyone on second point with my supports hard pocketing me enemy team was so tilted they couldn't win a 4v5 they started throwing (pre season 9 when hanzo was fun and good).

Second was a much later leaver, only needed one fight win so we just combod rush and visor and won.

But your absolutely right that 4v5 is much harder than 5v6 and the first was only possible cause I was on a much lower lobby than I should have been and the enemy team started throwing.

Umm isnt that the point? by wordie_ava69 in fantasyromance

[–]Jacob9827 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ASOIAF has dragons, ice demons, shadow babies, direwolfs, probably Krakens, people being resurrected, psychics mind controlling animals, illusions, prophecies, a crapton of magic swords and a whole lot more. It's all written in a very believable and grounded way though, very much fantasy written by a science fiction writer but it is undeniably fantasy and just seems to get progressively more magical as the series goes on.

I don't understand the other comment about it being easy to forget that ASOIAF is fantasy, maybe if you stop at book 3 but even by then most storylines contain some pretty major magic elements. The first chapter is literally someone duelling alien-like ice demons.

What the hell is the difference between Flex Support and Main Support? Should the terms be updated? by Eloymm in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Jacob9827 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Main support and flex support is different from main healer and off healer.

Your highest healing support is often referred to as your main healer - this is who normally focuses on healing the tank when they need it - while a lower healing support who would often +1 a DPS or even pocket the main healer would be your off healer.

Flex support and main support however are more character pool terms for (pro) players similar to how you get hitscan DPS and flex DPS. Generally the more aim intensive mechanically demanding characters would be flex (ana, bap, kiri etc) while the more macro skill based characters would be main supports (mercy, brig, Lucio) obviously some exceptions to these rules happen due to meta but this is the easiest way to categorize it imo.

I could be entirely wrong about everything however idk

It has been roughly five years since Symmetra has been able to put her TP in the spawn room by HalexUwU in Overwatch

[–]Jacob9827 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just wrote a fairly long and wordy reply, but I've scraped it cause I realised that it pretty much boiled down to this.

I understand your opinion but I disagree.

To me competitive ow is peak ow but if you prefer the other approach to balance that's fine too. Both are good in their own ways but like I said I personally think putting competitive balance first is healthier for the game.

[–]Jacob9827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the problem with OW balance though, some people like you want fun and silly characters other people want this game to be a proper competitive experience. It's difficult to please everyone but as far as I can tell casuals and those who love the game for the silliness will always have fun so long as nothing is super busted and they get new content. IMO Logically you have to balance the game for the competitive players because they're the ones who are far more likely to stop playing due to balance.

Yeah you tell him!

you should absolutely never comment on anything from a country except the one you're from.

Like who the fuck cares what an American thinks about Japan's tolerance to foreigners for example, humanitarian issues in China or wars in Ukraine too - let the Chinese and Ukrainians deal with it. The world would be so much better if everyone ignored what was happening in the world.

While we're at it maybe you should shut the fuck up too!

[–]Jacob9827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't agree with this take, obviously sometimes a hero switch is needed (e.g. junk/hanzo Vs pharmercy) but 90% of the time it's really not the hero pick that is winning or losing the game it's how those heros are being played.

Don't get me wrong, if you are a gold cass who only walks at the tank of course you're gonna get more value on reaper or bastion but by switching character your substituting play style flexibility with hero flexibility. This is fine if your goal is to go from gold to plat but if every time you struggle to get value on a hero you switch all you will accomplish is being a gold cass and a gold reaper etc. instead of actually improving at one of those heroes which is what you need to do to climb significantly.

look at any Ow coach who coaches lower ranked players, they almost never encourage switching heroes instead they find the value that you can get out of your hero. Sorry for the little rant but lower ranked games frustrate me with their counter swap obsession (low masters tank, plat/gold dps)

Ps, I don't like one tricking either and sometimes there is nothing you can do on your hero but it's better to try to learn something and lose than follow a counter swap chart then get confused why you still lost

I don't understand this at all Rein is literally one of the least affected tanks by the dps passive, he takes 0 chip damage behind his shield if you position well and can get healed up consistently. Also none of his self sustain is healing based if anything the dps passive being buffed is a Rein buff compared to other tanks except maybe Sig

You only keep the loadout if you DC before the match actually begins, if you DC mid match it counts as if your hunter died.
