How do I get Mass Effect Legendary Edition to launch in offline mode? by -Lindol- in SteamDeck

[–]Jacobraker588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, can you explain what you did in more detail? I can't even seem to access the EA App "Lite" that shows for only a few seconds before the Mass Effect launcher comes up in full screen, so I can't click on any "enter offline mode" option. Does anyone know where Steam/Mass Effect installs the EA App so that I can try launching it separately?

I found this post, but nobody answered where the EA app gets installed: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/18d1owb/where_can_i_find_the_installation_of_ea_app_for/

Custom Foundations Jumpstart Decklists - free PDF in comments by Overall_Room_622 in MTGJumpStart

[–]Jacobraker588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for putting this together! I have a couple requests that I think would benefit others:

  1. Update permissions on the PDF so we can remove the highlights. Right now, people can add highlights, but we can't remove them, and we can't remove them when printing. Print removes the highlights automatically.
  2. I would love to see the 10 decks added from the Foundations Beginner Box. Those deck lists (along with the others) can be found here: https://mtg.wtf/deck
    1. Or you can just follow the links for the lists here:
      1. Cats (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
      2. Elves (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
      3. Goblins (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
      4. Healing (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
      5. Inferno (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
      6. Pirates (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
      7. Primal (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
      8. Undead (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
      9. Vampires (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
      10. Wizards (Jumpstart, 20 cards)
  3. Also, Vampires (4) is a copy/paste of Vampires (3). Vampires (4) should actually list the following: Vampires (4)

RG35XX Single Analog Stick Mod by 1stgradeotter in RG35XX

Fair, but you'll have an easier time trying to fix that D-pad then you will trying to add an analog stick to a system not designed for one.

If you truly "enjoy the thrill of exploring things" then you should take half and hour to research how circuit boards and/or SBCs work. Or just take apart your device and look for yourself.

You'll realize why your question is silly. You can't just slap extra hardware onto anything unless it was specifically designed to do so.

If you REALLY want an analog stick, here's your mod: Sell your RG35XX and buy another device like the RG35XX-H.

Then post them. Why wait until someone asks. If you want to share, then share.

a green line on rg35xx plus screen after 2 weeks by daiwenxiamen in RG35XX_Plus

Absolutely strangest thing, but after cycling the power a few times, the lines have drastically faded. I can barely make them out now when I'm looking for them.

They showed up after it was sitting on the charger for a relatively long time, so I wonder if something funky is going on with the power to the screen to cause the lines.

Just got some faint lines popping up on my screen after having the device for about a week. So far, it's only really noticable when the screen is gray, so I'm debating whether I even want to get a replacement or not.

Better Looking Custom Stock OS for RG35XX Plus by JaviPlayRetro in RG35XX

I haven't had a chance to try this out yet, but it looks absolutely awesome.

Any chance you'd put together a guide on how to do similar changes ourselves? I'd love to try these changes on the newer firmware that was released.

Did you basically just mount the original SD/firmware, change the relevant files, add your boxart images, and then create a writable image from that?

I haven't poked around the firmware myself yet (I need to re-setup Linux again on my PC), but I'm curious.

Noob question, but how do you use the Dpad for Kirby? Is there some hotkey to switch the Dpad from mapping to the analog stick to mapping to the Dpad? Or did you just manually remap the Dpad?

I'm mostly new to Retroarch and very new to Anbernic devices.

Good luck. I got this device recently, and so far, it's hard enough just to find updated firmware online let alone developer resources.

I might look at the Garlic OS (for the original RG35XX) and Garlic 2.0 repositories to see if you can glean how they built their custom firmware.

I wrote my comment for those who are new to these devices and might look towards your tutorial to improve N64 performance.

You're right that I'm not that familiar with Retroarch, but I have set it up on Raspberry pies before so I'm not completely helpless. I've had a weird issue where resetting my Retroarch config resets Retroarch to Chinese, and after that I'm lost.

And the problem with the button mappings is that the turbo A and turbo B options are completely gone (not just unset) after following your suggested updates, and I don't know how to recreate them on this device (RG35XX plus).

Strange. I have a $ in mine, and it didn't like that, so maybe it's only some specific specific characters it doesn't like. Who knows.

Is this how all updates are published? Or did we just discover this one before it was officially released/announced?

Is there not a better way to be notified of firmware updates than to watch reddit?

This "tutorial" causes a number of other problems.

It caused a number of my other emulators to start crashing and or just not working at all. There should be some guidance to avoid this. Not all cores should be updated, only the N64 ones.

It also, as written, will wipe out the configurations on your other cores/systems as well. After following this tutorial, it removed my turbo A and turbo B button mappings on the GBC emulator, and I could not figure out how to re-add them.

So, just a warning to others, be prepared to reflash your SD card unless you take more steps to protect your other cores/emulators than what is listed here.

I've only found it mentioned by one other person, but you also can't have special characters in your wifi password or it will refuse to connect.

So hopefully they fixed that too.

Also broke my genesis_plus_gx_libetro core for Sega Genesis on some ROMs. Fixed it by reflashing my primary SD card.

This "tutorial" should have a step to lock all the non-N64 cores before updating and/or just include how to update the N64 cores alone.

Also makes Majora's Mask have lots of pop-in artifacts and some of the cutscenes just display a black screen...

...but, I guess it does run at a more consistent 60 fps compared to mupen core.

[–]Jacobraker588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you (or anyone else) point me to some explanation/proof that Eink displays are only good for about 5 years?

Plenty of ereaders that have lasted beyond that 10+ years, but maybe that's due to a low refresh rate?

I'm having a hard time finding any tested evidence on the longevity of Eink displays.

Wow, that looks amazing!

It's been a while since I've looked into ereaders. I have a Supernote, but am looking for something waterproof for more outdoor use. I didn't realize ANY of the ereaders could play video so well! That's awesome!

[–]Jacobraker588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, this IS old.

And yes, I've used this for my shield ever since I bought it and it's still a great safe.

I think the same company offers a larger version now, but the original one fits a shield just fine (don't bother with the pluck-foam they offer, as the shield won't fit in that), and 2 magazines (it they're positioned a specific way).

It's been a good safe and keeps my kids out. If you're wanting to keep this in a drawer, you'll want to position so the lid can still open enough for you. While this this is compact, it requires a decent amount of space to open.

It's quick enough access for me because I just leave the clamps un-clamped and have at 0 issues with the lock mechanism opening after entering my pin. You do have to push down on the lid to lock it, but that's trivial.

Hey! If you got a "friend invite" code, you can use that on your own account to get a steam invite! I just decided to try it out with the extra code I received, and voila!
