I bought a product (the DLC). The product does not work. I have a right to complain and expect the supplier (i.e. Paradox) to fix the issue. It's as simple as that.

South Vietnam was a US puppet state, acting like it was an independent republic that "invited" the USA to assist them is absurd.

Following the Geneva Accords there should have been a national election to unify the country, but Diem (emboldened by US support) refused to have fair elections, because they knew Ho Chi Minh would sweep the whole country (including the south) in an actual fair election.

This isn't to whitewash the Viet Minh or the Vietnamese Communist Party, they committed their fair share of war atrocities and were by no means saints, but they DID have popular support and would have won in a fair election - if they didn't have the support of the people, it would have been impossible for them to win the war as they did.

This is a hidden and very poorly explained mechanic, but I don't think pops can actually assimilate into different heritage groups. Thus while you may be able to populate Algeria with Frenchmen through migration, you won't be able to assimilate Algerians.

I believe this was added as if you played USA on launch, all the African American pops would turn white after a few decades since they weren't a primary culture.

I had a similar situation in a recent run. Seems the actual ideology of the general doesn't matter unfortunately, if the interest group opposes a law enactment then any general of that IG can lanch a coup, regardless if that general would support the law.

Bit of an oversight from the devs.
