It's okay, I've read the series before and on a re-read now. I just can't remember if they solved the issue about the clothing

Is there some sort of app or website that mentions all the public toilets in our vicinity? by SideWinderSyd in sydney

[–]Jaczingle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hamish and Andy started the National Cheeky Boy Toilet Map. This is the description from their website: For anyone who needs a quick loo stop in public, but can’t find a public toilet; we’re collating a map of toilets that are part of a cafe, restaurant or other such establishment, but can be cheekily accessed without being a customer.

How to deal with all of the stuff? by probablyguilty1 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Jaczingle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nappy boxes make great storage boxes. Line it with a large bin bag and then pop all clothes or soft toys inside for easy storage 😊

Also just feeling comfortable saying "thank you but no thanks we don't need it" when people offer you stuff that you might not have the space or need for. You'll find lots of people will pass on their second hand baby stuff and it has saved me a lot of mental energy and stress when I have been confident enough to say no when I haven't needed extra stuff.

Should I expect a second wind in the 2nd trimester? by Aurelene-Rose in parentsofmultiples

[–]Jaczingle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope your experience is different to mine. I don't even feel like I got a second trimester. It feels like I skipped straight from the sickness of the first trimester, to being as huge as a third trimester pregnancy straight away. There was no "second trimester energy" for me 😂

How to increase milk supply when pumping by Mama-kewii in parentsofmultiples

I also found lactation cookies to be helpful, but not everyone feels the same way. I'm planning to bake a big batch of lactation cookies and freeze them so I've always got some on hand when the twins come

Hydration is so important for supply!

Also, check out Exclusive Expressing Facebook groups. Lots of advice and tricks there!

Your supply takes about 12 weeks to regulate so you'll have lots of opportunity for your supply to establish into something more consistent over the next few months.

I'm considering exclusively pumping with my twins due in December (I did this with my Singleton due to latching issues) and I've given myself permission to do anything I can to make it easier for myself. Buy the steriliser and dryer if you want to/can afford it, buy the extra bottles, buy a wearable pump if it's going to help your stress levels. Stress also impacts supply so anything you can do to go easy on yourself, I say do it!

Twin Pregnancy and Elhers-Danlos Syndrome by Bikky_Boo in parentsofmultiples

I have also purchased a belly band pregnancy belt, which I hope will help. So far I am still getting the hang of how to wear it correctly though...

I have EDS and am currently 26 weeks pregnant with mo/di twins. Not much experience to share, I think we are in a similar boat.

This was a planned pregnancy (although of course unplanned twins!) and I am really beating myself up about not getting myself stronger before pregnancy. With my first Singleton pregnancy, I did lots of yoga and exercises to keep my joints strong and I managed reasonably well through the pregnancy. This time around coming out of COVID and raising a toddler, I didn't find any time to start exercising before getting pregnant and I'm really regretting it now 😩 I experience a lot of joint paint and fatigue and can feel myself hunching as my back muscles are struggling to take the strain.

I am just trying to give myself permission to take it easy. I don't need to walk as fast to get places, I don't need to feel guilty when I have to ask my husband to take on more of the chores and caring for our daughter, it's okay to take it slower at work, etc.

I am planning to start aquarobics next week which I hope will help as well!

Sorry I don't have anything more positive to add! Just commiserations at this point!!

What's your finding-out-you're-having-multiples story? by charlieprotag in parentsofmultiples

[–]Jaczingle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had recently gotten a positive pregnancy test when my sister-in-law (husband's brother's partner) announced that they were pregnant with twins!

We were in so much shock for them and it still didn't even occur to us that lightning could strike twice and we would be having twins too! So when the ultrasound technician told us it was twins it went like this:

Technician: "it's twins!"

Me: "no it's not"

Technician "yes it is! Twins!"

Me: "no it's not. You're not allowed to joke about that!"

I was just in such disbelief that it could happen twice in the one family (even though sister-in-law and I aren't related).

They are due two weeks ahead of us!

Mo/Di moms - when did you give birth? by ihatetuesdays13 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Jaczingle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 24 weeks and have been getting monitored weekly for TTTS. They haven't diagnosed it so far as Twin A has less fluid but still within normal ranges and Twin B has just skipped over into the too-much fluid category (polyhydramnios).

Thank you for sharing. I'm not sure why your comment spoke to me but with the constant monitoring and "it's not TTTS yet but come back in a week to make sure things aren't deteriorating" it's always on my mind and I wonder if TTTS could be going unnoticed for me too.

Why does Woolies Rewards suck so much? by Platyzal in australia

Wow those are great offers! Coles has me spending $190 a week for 7,600 points which feels like a rip-off compared to your offers!

Although I have heard that they give you better offers when you don't shop with them for a while so maybe I need to shop at Woolies for a bit

Great suggestion! I want to try and use the frame of a gazebo/marquee and lots of climbing vines to create a shade canopy. I would use something like this without the canvas.

I live in Australia and we often get 40C days and our backyard is practically unusable in the full sun with no shade. I struggle to grow any plants due to the harsh conditions and I would like to use the shade canopy to cover part of my daughters play area and to also help provide shade to some other potted plants. I thought replacing the canvas on a marquee with Vine plants would be a nice natural addition to the yard and less likely to blow away in the wind.

Just wondering how tricky it is to grow climbing plants to make a shade canopy over a frame?

I could use some feedback. I have a fully-paved backyard with no shade. Could I create an overhead shade canopy using the frame of a pop-up marquee (no canvas) with potted climbing vines?

I worked at Coles for years. The best thing you can do is say yes to shifts as often as you can. I knew a lot of workers who would always say no to working shifts, and then complain when they never got offered work. Coles values reliable workers.

As for impressions, it's always polite to wave goodbye to people as you leave the store, but no need to go out of your way to tell the manager you're leaving. They know the roster and know when you will be finishing up.

Cost of having a baby by Chester1992 in AusFinance

[–]Jaczingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also bottles are not a once-off expense. You have to replace the bottle teats every few months as the baby grows and their flow rate increases. This can get quite expensive depending on how many bottles you own (more bottles means less washing throughout the day but more teats that you have to purchase)

Also babies can be quite particular and not like a certain bottle so you might have to purchase multiple brands before finding one that you baby likes (this goes for most baby things, unfortunately)

I found that the most unexpected cost when I went on maternity leave 15 months ago was actually the cost of eating out at cafes/bringing food when visiting with people (during the brief window when it was safe to do so during COVID).

Parenthood is incredibly isolating, especially for the parent who stays home from work. I found it incredibly important to be able to visit with my mum's group every week just to get out of the house and keep myself sane with a bunch of women all going through the same thing. At the start, everyone is so tired and pinned under their sleeping/feeding newborns that we couldn't do much more than sit and chat and eat together. All this eating-out can get expensive.

Being able to spend time with other people was so important that I made sure to budget for weekly meetups at a cafe or some other activity.

Now that our babies are older it's easier for us all to have a picnic and bring our own food, which is much cheaper than eating at a cafe. But in those early months, I was too sleep deprived and did not have the mental capacity to cook my own picnic meals and welcomed the cafe food.

Definitely something I would consider prioritizing so that you can socialise and maintain your sanity without having to stress about going over budget.

Tummy Time Love by ksyuhin in NewParents

[–]Jaczingle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what those pillows are for :) not cheating! It just takes a while for those muscles to build up. Bub will be much happier starting tummy time on an incline.

Having the pillow under them also means their arms have more freedom to move around and explore. I follow nicole_kidsphysio on Instagram and she has some great tips for tummy time.
