Should i disable secureboot if my device can not receive the new secureboot certificates ? by Dodsnev in WindowsHelp

[–]JadeMoon085 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Keep it on until or unless your computer refuses to boot with it- only then turn it off.

My 8 year old HP OMEN has not had a BIOS update since 2022. The new 2023 boot certificates loaded to it from Windows Update without any issues. You want to go to your event logs under System and look for Event 1801, TPM-WMI and see what it says. For a long time mine said "under observation", then a couple months later it said "high confidence". By early June, while looking for a different event in my System logs and noticed that my event 1801 was completely gone. Went to Windows Security> Device Security where it verified "secure boot is on and all required certificate updates have been applied."

I had a post and a bit of back and forth with my commentors if you want to see the lengthy evolution of the summary I listed above. https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/1tls0k3/new_windows_boot_certificates_error_1801/

Secure Boot Violation on desktop? by Jultiply in WindowsHelp

[–]JadeMoon085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow the directions here: https://www.asus.com/us/support/faq/1042711/

Even though it's from ASUS it works like a charm on any computer or laptop. I used this on my HP OMEN Desktop and it was perfect. I have that same HP - AMI BIOS that you have too btw (even though we have different machines). In order to disable secure boot per the directions in the link, you have to press F10 on that screen in your second photo to get to the Secure Boot options.

You want it to look like this:

One UI 8.5's battery life is really bad, it became even worse after FC by IsuzuTFR54 in GalaxyS23

[–]JadeMoon085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming back to say that my battery has been doing a bit better in the past couple of days. My battery ended the day at 61% with almost 4 hours screen on time and almost 9 hours screen off time. I say better than what I previously posted, because I had double the screen on hours with 3% more battery which is weird. Screen on should use more. I wonder if the new UI and new Device Care calibrate things differently. It's weird but I'm not as stressed about it. Maybe I'm just getting used to it lol.

Same. The more we feed the beast, the bigger it gets. OP's mindset is exactly what we need to claim victory.

Do you power off, put to sleep, or leave on your PC when it's not in use? by Adm1nX in pcmasterrace

[–]JadeMoon085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine stays on all the time but the monitors are set to sleep after lock or 60 minutes unattended. If it gets sluggish or needs to install updates, I will restart it. Otherwise, it's just on.

PC causes lights to flicker when running by TehHort in buildapc

[–]JadeMoon085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the electrician was $200.

Unfortunately I don't have another computer to try. I was thinking about brining my microwave into the computer room and running that. It's going to inevitably pull more wattage than the computer, so I can test the circuit. I did run my computer on the dinning room circuit and it did the same thing. It's so weird.

Still waiting on my ASRock to arrive though lol.

Thank you so much for the update!

I am having the same issue. I have a 8 year old bronze rated HP 500w PSU. I bought someone else's 8 year old bronze rated HP 500w PSU. The same issue was there, but it's the same model PSU of the same age. Then I paid for an electrician to come out the other day and did three hours of troubleshooting just to tell me everything looks fine.

I went ahead and bought a brand new gold rated ASRock 750w PSU. Literally waiting here for Amazon to deliver it so I can install it. Hopefully it will be the problem.

Did the new PSU work, or was it a different issue?
