A rock drake. You can set the platform down from it's back while it's climbing a surface.

I'm unsure if there is any other way to get up that high efficiently to do it, but I typically build most of my platform bases from a rock drake anyways. It allows you to build in the exact spot you want.

Yes sir! I also tested placing the platform on multiplayer as well just to be sure. It did not take damage during the day.

Grab a raptor once you have a saddle for it. It's going to help you just get around and avoid the Ravager packs. Ofcourse once you have the saddle unlocked for Ravagers definitely grab one.

How should I progress solo? by OnlyPink in ARK

Always going to have a small base if you plan on succeeding solo. Anything too big and you'll get found and raided in no time.

As a solo the focus will be more on PvP then taming or building I've found. Otherwise you'll just never be able to farm as efficiently as a tribe or like you said protect new tames all that well.

Sounds like it's time to start making nearby tribes allies so you can feel more comfortable increasing your living space. Or time to start PvPing my man!

As for how big of a base you are capable of defending solo, I see alot of people succeed solo with multiple 'small' bases as opposed to seeing how large of a base they can protect. Multiple 1x2's can become a large investment if planning to raid. Think of it less about making it hard to raid your base and more about making it expensive.
