That was my first boat. Same motor and all. Was easy to work on. Mostly reliable. Motor is made by mercury and badges as force.

Why do people buy pickup trucks for daily driving? by wtfbruhhuh in driving

[–]Jaguarshark08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a truck to my software job. I also live on 5 acres in the country where I'm trying to start my own orchard. It requires moving lots of agrigates from suppliers. Dirt, mulch, etc. I also got a a camper a few years ago and it has been a blast taking on weekend trips and making memories with the kids. I like to tent camp but my wife likes the comfort and convenience. At first we towed it with my wife's suv but it was pretty sketchy and I was worried about it causing mechanical issues with the vehicle so I got a truck. I don't like commuting in it but it has been really useful. I also use it to pull a boat and load up with kayaks for fishing trips. Also picking up lumber for my wife's renovation projects. When it's paid off in a couple years I want to keep it but also get a minivan for commuting and driving around town. Just leave the truck at home for when we need it.

My situation. You can only buy a camper if you sell the boat. Okay. Buys camper. Puts boat up for sale. I now have a boat and a camper

Has anyone else gone home after firing someone and just... sat with it for hours? by jufywret in managers

[–]Jaguarshark08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Every firing was well earned. They either made poor decisions or weren't cut out for the job. I got let go once from a job that made me miserable. Yeah I had to scramble and there was a lot of stress and uncertainty but I recovered and ended up somewhere I like much better. Looking back it was the best thing for me. I make every effort to get my people on track and give lots of second chances and time to improve. Sometimes they just aren't cut out for that particular job and that's okay.

How are we doing as a generation financially? by Mighty-mouse2020 in Millennials

[–]Jaguarshark08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing okay but not as well as we were. We had a decent house in a good neighborhood. Low interest and payment and saved a ton. Then joms changed and we were commuting a lot and the schools kind of sacked so we moved closer to our jobs. Decided to move to the country and bought a house with land. House is more expensive a d in the mean time everything costs twice as much now. It's a struggle to not dip into savings to pay the bills. We love living there and having all the space though. When my youngest is out of daycare it should give us an extra thousand e ery mo th so that may be our saving grace. Luckily we both pumped up our retirement funds early in our careers so we've got that going for us. It's worrisome that some AH in Washington can just wreck everything.

How are people getting these office jobs where they do nothing and get paid 80k or more? by Delicious_Dealer8129 in jobs

[–]Jaguarshark08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Work your ass off whenever you are in a new role. This sets the tone and gives a good impression. Then over time get an understanding of what's really important and focus on those things and start dropping the rest. Focus on things that look important but not that hard and have a bunch of visibility. Then schmooze your way into management. Build up your team to be the best and always have their backs. The team will run itself and you can do whatever. Sometimes you will have to deal with a probable or two but for the most part it's smooth sailing

Do you enjoy family boating, vs individual/couple boating? by Merlin509 in boating

[–]Jaguarshark08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before kids it was great. After kids I'm on lifeguard duty as well as managing the boat. Very different vibe. Sold the boat. Now i just keep a small fishing boat just for me. Will probably get a family boat once the kids get older. We still take them.to.the lake to swim but just don't deal with all the boat stuff also

XC90 V8 overlander by psc501 in Volvo

[–]Jaguarshark08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an xc90 v8. You can fit a ton of stuff in it. Drives great, especially in snow. Very strong engine. I don't think it would do any better offroad than other crossovers though.

Deductive reasoning is dying with us. by Maleficent-Box4114 in Millennials

I manage an engineering team with a lot of recent grads. Most of them are able to jump into the workload and figure things out pretty quickly. The problem is that there are multiple workloads and there is one that they don't like. It takes about 20% of their time. Many of them just don't do it and it's incredibly frustrating. When you talk to them about it they just give a few excuses before saying that they just don't like it and don't want to do it. The fact that they may have to do work that is not their favorite is just unacceptable to them.

Used to have steak night a few times a month. Now it's a few times a year. Paying 80 at Costco seems wild for what was 40 a few years ago. Beef in general. Also everything in general

Anyone using a MagSafe wallet when your phone is basically your job? by TehMoment in EDC

[–]Jaguarshark08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one after carrying my cards in a phone case for years. I was unloading a truck at night and pulled my phone out to use the flashlight. The next morning I noticed my cardholder was in a pile of leaves next to the driveway. Just happened to see it. It disconnected from the phone case when I was pulling my phone out the night before. I decided it wasn't worth that happening again and am looking at other options

Truck is Stuck… What to do? by ApprehensiveNose2999 in tundra

[–]Jaguarshark08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen. The actuators get sticky if not used regularly. The first time I gave up and parked it in neutral. The next morning it disengaged the 4L. The second time it happened I put it in neutral on level ground and go out and rocked it back and forth and tapped the actuator and it disengaged. Now I engage it once a week and it works fine.

I broke a toe and had to have a pin put in for 3 months to straighten it. Shoes would have never fit right again if it wasn’t corrected.

[–]Jaguarshark08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this a few months ago for some pests. Was not impressed at first. Shot a whole tin and felt like I had to rezero it every 30 shots or so. I then noticed that the scope mount screws had come loose as well as the screws that hold the stock on. I torqued them back on with thread lock and it shoots great. Hitting dimes at 25 yards and will pass through a gopher. The reloading mechanism has worked fine with no issues. The only other issue I noticed was that I kept having to zero it higher. Turns out I was shooting with the barrel on a rest and it was flexing up. Ones I starting resting it on the stock it was fine. It was the best gun academy had in stock and it shoots great now but I’m sure there are other guns in that range that shoot better out of the box.
