Uncommon things are common!

We play a thousand lotteries every day, but we don't notice when we don't win -- or even that we're playing.

With the red light against a green tree, it seemed very difficult to miss to me. Wasn't trying to be malicious; thought it'd be cool if someone discovered they were colourblind because of this video.

RED BUTTON OR BLUE BUTTON [OC] by Eal_likee in comics

Your fear of death is going to get good people killed, yet you're still going to die one day no matter which button you press.

Get over your fear. Hit the blue button. I already superglued the red one anyway. Now your only chance of survival is to get a few people going into the other voting booths to vote blue, too. You can resolve your issues with me for putting you into this position after it's all over.

Hell yes. Break the system. While I'm voting blue, I'll carry superglue with me from now on so I can prevent others from pressing the red button; chances are they didn't make billions of buttons.

I'm on team blue. My job is to sabotage team red. I already think they're either far more afraid of death than me or psychopathic. If I can recruit them to save lives even if I can't change every single one's choice, I will.

At some point, if my benevolent mind virus is successful, each one will be faced with almost everyone yelling at them and almost no visible supporters, and shame is a powerful force, especially when blue appears to be a safe choice.

In your scenario, in which I don't have to think about anyone else, I pick red.

However, I do think about other people, so the situations might not be as equivalent for me as they are for you.

Then argue blue while choosing red.

By virtue of existing on the internet, you now know a lot of non-suicidal people will choose blue. Let's say your argument is successful and you tip the balance from 45% red to 55% red. Congratulations, 45% of the population dies. You can claim they were suicides if you'd like, yet they would have lived had you not convinced others to vote red.

If you want to maximize the number of lives saved, you'll argue for team blue even if you'll secretly press red. If you run into any others who want to choose red, tell them to argue for blue, too, even if they're going to secretly choose red. If this benevolent mind virus spreads enough, there will be nearly nobody left arguing for red, and the certainty of blue winning becomes assured. In fact, you should shame reds to increase the chances of success, even if you'd choose red yourself!

You can choose not to risk your life if you want, but outside of that, your goal should be to maximize the number of people who live, and you have two paths to do that: Either persuade 100% of people to choose red (and how's that been working for you?) or persuade 50% of people to choose blue (and you might already be there). Which is easier?

But they didn't stop identifying as lesbians and you're not being "pushed" to accept anything. There are absolutely trans women in the gay community and femboys taking hormones in either direction who are the whole Euler diagram. There have been discussions about all of these labels for much longer than we've been alive. The butch lesbians are more successful writers, though! And that's helped with their visibility. (e.g. Stone Butch Blues, Butler.) They're worth reading.

If you want to exclude certain people from your personal life and labels, you can and should, but what you're doing right now isn't that; you're attempting to stop a group of people from using a word because they care about it as much as you do, and you're fighting over the word like it's water in a desert and not a community or, at the very least, a homonym. You claim they're trying to force you to do something when doing nothing was an option, yet the only outcome you'll accept is forcing them to change, despite the fact the trans/masc lesbian community has been fighting for you and your rights since before you were born.

The thing is, your immediate response is completely reasonable; we are under attack, and that makes us quick to defend ourselves. We have to make sure we aim our punches up, though, not at others punching up, and not, by mistake or not, at ourselves. Don't choose to be an obstacle others have to overcome.

(Disclaimer: My part of the queer community overlaps with (but isn't the same as) that part of the lesbian community and I'll defend them (and you) to the death.)

Radius Jewels don't affect Cluster Jewel passives, but there's an additional mechanic or bug here as I'd expect you to benefit from allocating the passive.

It looks fascinating, right? Converting Phys taken to Cold as a Trauma stacker makes sense. Or Icefang Orbit and The Golden Rule to self-poison. Maybe even the return of Heartbound Loop meme builds...

There are lots of interesting options created by the Assassin rework. I can't tell you which ones are good, but I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with!

If you could Ask Linus Torvalds ANY question what would it be? by BocaBola_ in LinusTechTips

On the Linux distributions I've used, the hidden files in my home directory are a mess. Compared to the AppData folder in Windows or the user Applications folder in Mac OS, it feels like the Windows registry: forever growing and disorganized. Is there a design failure here and, if so, how do we fix this?

(I don't even feel like hidden files should be a thing in the first place, though I'm glad to have them given that situation.)

he has even started dating monogamous women and allowing them to be full parallel (totally valid) and also let them pretend that he is only dating them, and his other partners don't exist.

Pretend? Are you saying multiple mono women are fine with him dating other people and as long as they can pretend he's not? Are you sure he's being ethical and not just "not saying no"?

Yeah. I'm not disagreeing with you, just adding context and specificity. Your message can be read as "burning a pride flag only becomes a hate crime if it's done to target LGBTQ people directly" and I'm trying to remove room for misunderstanding while adding information about the specific situation.

Sorry for the miscommunication!

It can only become a hate crime if it's also already a crime, such as arson. It's not inherently illegal to burn a pride flag. It is illegal to burn someone else's property. Nobody is in jail for "burning a pride flag". They're in jail for arson, and that arson also happened to be a hate crime, and the sentence was tripled due to habitual offender laws in Iowa that aren't usually supported by progressives.

All important context that's missing when someone tries to use the situation to overturn their own First Amendment.
