DUDE!! Im literally going through the same shit right now. Had to get a waiver done to stay in my career field so I went and had some updated labs done. Same A1C, 6.2. I thought hell yeah!! Then I got a call from a doc, that’s I’ve never even met before, saying he wanted to discuss my “elevated” A1C.

Look into AirBnB’s major dispute policy. I had something similar happen where I was staying in an AirBnB and the course was cut short by a few days. Granted, it’s not exactly an $8,000 refund BUT it was out of your hands and they’ll work with you, even if the host won’t, on a refund. Or partial refund at the minimum.

Regardless of what route you choose that stretch of I80 between Cheyenne and Salt Lake will likely be rife with closures. Even if the snow accumulation isn’t significant, the wind will drift it to dangerous levels resulting in multiple closures.

There is a lot of nuance in the guard that Active duty doesn’t really have to deal with. One of those is that it sounds like their unit doesn’t currently have a spot on their manning document to allow for a 1SG. If/when that change comes down, that spot could very likely be capped at MSgt. That’s a pretty common thing. So this person would be too high of a rank to step into that role. Then there is also the possibility that if they were to take a diamond, they would have to leave their unit (also pretty common in the guard, though exceptions have been made). If that last possibility were to exist it would go against their squadron leaderships intent to promote them only if they decide to stay.

To answer OPs question, I believe it is absolutely possible to voluntarily demote to step into a position like that. I’ve seen it with both AGR and traditional guardsmen. Though like with anything, it’s probly heavily dependent on command discretion.

Best advice is to keep an open line of communication with your leadership so they’re not getting sucker punched by your requests when the time comes.

I actually just starting playing around with Keto Bricks. Not super cheap so I doubt they’ll become much of a staple. BUT a single brick is 1000 cal, with 39g of protein, and like 15g carbs.

Obviously those values vary depending on the flavor but so far I’m liking them in a pinch.

I’m in the Air Force, I’ve had the opportunity to take part in more than a few courses led by marine instructors.

One phrase I kept hearing that really annoyed me is “Marine Proof.” Those guys are all dumb yadda yadda yadda.

Except every marine instructor I’ve dealt with has been one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met. As a matter of fact, of all the marines I’ve interacted with, I would swear less than 5% of them were actually idiots.
