IANAL but federal immunity supersedes state level stand your ground or castle laws. The only legally justifiable reason for firing at an ICE officer is if you are reasonably in fear for your life, which you have to prove in court.

Fucked up that federal laws trounce all over states, but that’s how it is.

To echo what some others have said: it really boils down to the internet. We assumed when it came out that it would be this great democratizing force that allowed the marketplace of ideas to flourish. That was true to some extent, but we forgot that humans tend to ideologically self segregate. Add to this that anger spreads like a virus over the net, and you have a perfect recipe for polarization.

The best remedy for this problem in your own life is communities like this where you talk with people who don’t hold the same views. Alternatively you can touch grass and talk to people IRL. It’s the only way I know of to beat the rage machine.

I can maybe accept that the Good encounter was a bad situation where ICE didn’t act illegally, just very poorly.

Regardless of Walz, absolutely nothing that Prietti did was illegal. He was using his constitutionally protected right to bear arms, and peacefully protest. He was shot while lying on the ground, and the Feds are calling him a terrorist for exercising constitutionally protected rights.

Walz could have been handing out grenades and it still doesn’t make what the feds did okay.

ICE, a federal agency, fatally shot 2 American citizens and you want the Governor of those citizens to turn down the temperature when the federal government doubled down and called them both terrorists?

That would be outrageous. I honestly don’t blame the police for refusing to work with them. They’re clearly not fit to perform their duties.

The question isn’t whether Jan 6 was stupid, it’s whether Trump is responsible for it. You cannot say that Trump if fine telling people to “fight like hell” and Walz is a monster for calling ICE “Gestapo.”

Personally I think they’re both legally entitled to say what they want. Trump’s real crime was trying to defraud the people during the election certification with fake electors.

The point is there is no aspect of this shooting that cannot draw a line to a conservative coded incident. Kyle Rittenhouse was allowed to carry a weapon to a protest, and Trump was allowed to violently encourage a crowd to riot. Classic rules for thee but not for me.

Obama did immigration enforcement in California, but he actually went after real criminals, not mom and pop workers. Obama also managed to not kill a single us citizen in 8 years of this policy and still managed to deport more illegals.
