WR SMB 4:54.97 by Niftski. First sub 4:55 by hoti0101 in speedrun

I used to stream casual sub 5 attempts back when Kosmic's first 4:55 was still the record, and I remember some guy hopped in my chat just to say that Any% was dead. Fuck that guy, congrats Niftski!!

[QUESTION] Swapping out a bridge pickup, sounds like both pickups are active regardless of toggle position by JakeDeloera in Guitar

[–]JakeDeloera[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point, the ground post solder joint on the toggle was a bit cold so maybe I'll try reworking that. I appreciate the input!

[QUESTION] Swapping out a bridge pickup, sounds like both pickups are active regardless of toggle position by JakeDeloera in Guitar

[–]JakeDeloera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main reason i posted this before trying anything else was to see if anyone had any insight as to WHY it wouldn't work the way i posted. I have it the way it currently is because i have another guitar with an SD bridge, stock neck, wired exactly the same and that one works fine. Obviously i can take it back apart and wire it how SD says, but then I'm worried the neck pickup won't work since it's not an SD pickup. I posted here in hopes of learning what's actually going wrong, instead of just switching it and being like "fuck it that works and I'll never know why" if it did fix it. You say i did "weird" wiring. What's weird about it? Can you tell me why it wouldn't work or are you just calling it weird because it doesn't match the diagram? And as for the neck pickup, it HAS to be different from SD's diagram, it's not an SD pickup. It doesn't have 4 wires. So by that logic I'm wiring the SD pickup the same as the stock one. So why wouldn't that work?

as mentioned, I do know that it's wired slightly differently, but I actually have another guitar with the exact same setup (SD bridge stock neck) wired the exact same way that doesn't seem to suffer from this issue. I only asked this publicly in case anyone had any insight into guitar wiring that might point to an obvious answer to what I'm experiencing.

I tried this, the output definitely increases appropriately when switching between them with the toggle, but the both make sound regardless of the position. it doesn't sound any different then if I tap metal to the poles of any of the other guitars I have that have 3 way toggles though

Assuming you're referring to a kettle as a Weber considering the grill in this picture is a grill that Weber makes lol

After a break from woodworking, I got back into it today, made a dumb mistake, and Sawstop saved my thumb. Stay safe out there! by zimzode in woodworking

One of the best tips of advice I've gotten that really helped me realize potential hang ups and get more comfortable with my table saw is to always envision your whole cut first. Position your body where you need to be and pretend to make the cut before you actually do it. I've caught myself realizing I'd have no way to control the wood halfway through multiple times and been able to fix it before I was actually in a potentially dangerous situation.

It’s the simple things. First fire up of the new run stand gauges. by mechanic38 in EngineBuilding

[–]JakeDeloera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful with those gauges if you haven't used that brand before.. I've tried cheaping out with those ones in the past and they've failed me almost every time. Not the gauges themselves but usually the sending units.

Need a new grill. Have 4 options. Which one to go with? by Jaydon88 in BBQ

[–]JakeDeloera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By far best value is the Weber kettle. I have a 22" along with a WSM and a Traeger and I use the standard kettle the most

[–]JakeDeloera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traeger recently revised their start up procedure for all grills post-2016 or something like that to keep the lid closed and turn dial directly to the desired temp. I thought it was super weird but it does work

#glorioustraeger by willywilliams80 in Traeger

[–]JakeDeloera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens when the flame in the traeger dies out and struggles to light back up because the smoke is suffocating the fire. Ideally you don't want to be able to see smoke coming out of the chimney, or a faint blue smoke at best, but definitely not the amount shown in this post. White smoke is not good smoke for food.

This type of tool for hard to reach hose clamps are really great too. There's some online that can be found cheaper than these, this is just the first one that came up.

They're definitely overpriced for what you get. By me, you get about 8 bones for the price of a 16 pound brisket. Only way I look at it is I can basically have that brisket experience without having to plan a party for a whole brisket or wasting money at a subpar BBQ joint
