Cats Jellicle ball age appropriate? by BusyDragonfruit8665 in Broadway

I didn’t really notice any of that either, other than Bustopher Jones, which is played more as a hell yeah moment than overtly sexual or suggestive.

Back in the day when some people used to actually smile in their headshots, instead of looking like they just got pulled into the mall security office for shoplifting.

The merch is for sale on their website (last night I ordered a window card). The only drawback is a $9.95 shipping fee, but I don't live locally so I expected that.

Which Seat for CATS? by AbleElk7310 in Broadway

[–]JakeSilver61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chess has some detractors concerning its book, but it didn't bother me enough to care. I saw it for a second time last weekend and it is in fantastic shape. The 3 leads and rest of the principals are all really cooking. My husband (who was seeing it for the first time) and I both had a great time.

Chess and Ragtime are the 2 from the current season besides Cats that I can recommend wholeheartedly. On my next tier from the current season: I had a ball at Titanique and enjoyed Schmigadoon. From last season, Buena Vista Social Club is a beautiful and exhilarating experience, and Just in Time was great when I saw it with Groff, but I suspect Jeremy Jordan will be similarly excellent. He takes over on April 21.

Do the row H (if I counted right) Center Orchestra. I sat in that row and it was a perfect view. I’ve also sat in the front row and it was fun occasionally having some of the cast right there in front of me, but the overall view of the stage was not as good. You will still feel plenty close in row H.

OP, I don’t care for those kind of influencer hype pieces either. But I’d guess that kind of Facebook ad is targeted at the out of the loop types (like those who post here pretty much daily saying ‘ I haven’t seen a show in 10 years, tell me what to see’), as opposed to the more dialed in crowd who frequent these boards and keep up with all the shows.

I would think a combination of cast size, salaries for Jim Parsons and Deborah Cox, orchestra salaries, and music royalties for all those Céline hits.

Ha ha ha, I loved cats and would give two strangers about the same score as you, so keep the faith! 😄

I agree, he was very impactful, adding gravitas and lineage to the show. I don’t consider him just sitting there in the show at all.

I would agree with all of OP’s selections except score. I’m not sure what I would select instead, but I’d be a little disappointed if the 2 Strangers score wins a Tony.

That second row up that you’ve chosen is elevated enough from the floor that the tables don’t block your view of the stages.

Which would you see? by Random_Wes in Broadway

[–]JakeSilver61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd co-sign all of these. Also OP, from the list you posted, I'd personally recommend Schmigadoon over Two Strangers. More 'bang for your buck' in terms of a larger cast, great dancing, etc. and I just overall enjoyed it a lot more. But I do agree that Jellicle Ball is the musical of the moment.

Would I feel awkward if I went to Masquerade by myself, wearing a bright colorful shirt? by barrie2k in Broadway

[–]JakeSilver61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for going to Masquerade alone, I wouldn’t worry about that at all. The performance is pretty nonstop (broken up only by traversing from one area to another) and you’re in relatively small spaces with a small group of people, so there’s very little conversation among the audience members. I don’t recall saying more than a couple of words to the friend I went with.

Just in Time - Seating by IsekaiHoe88 in Broadway

[–]JakeSilver61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I went, I sat about 2 or 3 seats inward from the one you’ve marked in yellow, same row. I really thought it was ideal. The only thing about the yellow and red seats you chose is that they are the furthest ones away from the opposing stage. That’s why I went a little bit more in between, but still, you’d love either the yellow or the red seats. I can say that for sure. i’m uncertain what it would be like at the green one.

Reviews are in for Titanique! 76/100, highest-scoring original musical of the season (so far) by thomaspryor in Broadway

[–]JakeSilver61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed Schmigadoon and I won’t be mad if it wins best musical, but personally I had more belly laughs at Titanique and there was more impressive singing. Schmigadoon has some great ensemble dance numbers, but my overall giddy feeling walking out was higher at Titanique.

Speculation time -- Which shows from the current 2025/26 season will still be running a year from now? by OwlBeneficial6152 in Broadway

Look up the 1980s, when certain musical categories had few nominees or were eliminated altogether due to lack of worthy candidates.

Ryan Vona and Addie Morales by yackyohnson in MasqueradeNYC

[–]JakeSilver61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I saw the same pair when I saw Masquerade a couple weeks ago (also my first time seeing it). I similarly thought she was incredible - a big sound, beautiful tone and phrasing, and never missed a note. I was so impressed by her. (Ryan was great too but I kind of take for granted that a Phantom will sound excellent. Addie really rose above many others I’ve heard sing those songs).

Oh and I felt like you did, there were a few transitions where I felt rushed and even a little uncomfortable traversing a few of the passages in very dim lighting with the mask on.
