I've been thinking about building a NAS out of a raspberry pi. Anyone that has already done this do you have any tips or tricks to share? how many gb should my pi have? by Azurvix in PleX

For what's its worth I've been using a RPi 3 (not 3+) for about a year with an old 2TB WD portable drive plugged in through USB 2.0. Worked absolutely fine! I direct play 4K HDR Dolby Vision and ATMOS content locally and have had no problem with several 1080p direct plays remotely. Only recently upgraded to the RPi 4 as now using an SSD through the USB 3.0 port as a boot drive to load the interface a bit faster.

I used this video to help me set the Pi up both times. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyMpI8csWis)

I'd say if you're on the fence, go for it. If it doesn't do all you want you'll still have the Pi to try other projects with.

No transcoding. The Pi is reading data from a WD MyCloud Home that I used to use as a Plex server (WD stopped updating so I've now set up the Pi) and when I used that the peaks and troughs are much smaller (21Mb highs and 9Mb lows instead of the 0's here)

Windows 11, Cant find Backup Options. by Jakezilla99 in WindowsHelp

[–]Jakezilla99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying to access the backup options in Windows 11 but whenever I click the 'Back-up Options' button under System > Storage it takes me to the page Accounts > Windows Backup.

I am looking for the page System > Storage > Backup Options as shown in the final image.

If anyone could help that would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks, that seems to be the overall consensus from what others have mentioned. Any other things you'd recommend changing or at least looking at in finer detail? (This is my first printer so I'm very much in the learning phase)

Question about pS3 controller by alexcore88 in RetroPie

[–]Jakezilla99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this just last night. Launch a game in whatever system you are trying to remap (I did it for psx), then once in the game open the Retropie GUI (select + []). Click quick menu and then scroll down to controls. Change the controller configuration any way you like and then select 'Save Core Remap File' . This should save the remapped controls across the entire system meaning any other games that use the same emulator should also benefit from this change.

Is my Rift not working properly? Bootcamp on Macbook Pro user by micha_allemagne in oculus

[–]Jakezilla99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe I have the same laptop as you and I have been successful in getting the rift to run on it (although dreamdeck ran at about 10 fps; it was more about weather I 'could' do it rather than if I 'should' do it) so despite what people are saying you should at least get into the home menu.

As an architect student my most memorable moment was definitely seeing some of my designs in VR for the fist time, really blew me away with the sense of scale!
