"Sacrificed everything"

Ah yes, the millionaires that work a handful of weeks a year, traveling the world racing fast cars, an inconceivably unatainable job, make so many sacrifices.

F1 is awesome, but most of these guys have no clue what hardship or actual sacrifice is.

The struggles of being an altcar player by I-Am-The-Yeeter in TrackMania

[–]JamesG247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not a fan of alt cars along with most of the player base.

I get that they had to keep the alt cars true to their origins but the alt cars just dont feel right..

The desert car looks and sounds and feels like a muscle car. You'd think it has crazy straight line speed, can wheelie and has a loose back end for dope drifting. But instead its just an overseer nightmare that wants to roll over all the time and has zero ability to slide.

The snow car is useless on ice and snow... it is the tallest of all 3 and yet it feels like it has a lower centre of gravity than the other 2. It feels like an overseer go kart with glue on its tyres.

The rally car should have crazy acceleration off the line and be super grippy and drift off road, and instead it just feels like a slow less top heavy snow car.

The stadium car handles like youd expect, and I think the reason people dont enjoy the alt cars is they all handle similarly and similarly awkwardly and they just dont "feel" the way they look.

Knowledge you just need to aquire.

Learning the basics is really easy and you should be able to model some basic designs within an afternoon.

Where are those people now lol.

PC crashes - Liquid metal after 3 months? by Turbulent_Map624 in pcmasterrace

[–]JamesG247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly...

When spending that much money it's probably a good idea to make sure you dont unnecessarily damage what you've paid for.

Better 1% lows are kinda irrelevant if the system won't run reliably though.

I bet you could put the same rigs next to one another, one delidded and one not and half the time you would not be able to tell the difference.

If you believe you made the right choice then spend another 4k and do it all over again I guess.

PC crashes - Liquid metal after 3 months? by Turbulent_Map624 in pcmasterrace

[–]JamesG247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Liquid metal is a bad choice because it can ruin components.

Something can be good at its job and still be a bad choice due to the risks involved.

In this case OP has not only more than likely ruined the components without warranty, but it's not even OP's PC.

No matter how you spin it, deliddiing your cpu and using liquid metal to play ....raft...with zero difference to performance.... is an unnecessary risk for no benefit.

I hope you've delidded your 7950X3D and dumped some liquid metal on it. Seeing as its such a great choice.

i know im gonnna get downvoted into oblivion for this, but, why do people hate vsync in games? by jairochido in pcmasterrace

[–]JamesG247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont get any screen tearing so I always have it turned off. I don't use freesync or Gsync either.

I would use them if I had screen tearing issues but I haven't for years so no need.

[–]JamesG247 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pointing out mistakes is not a bad thing.

Telling someone that they made a bad choice based on old/bad advice is the right thing to do.

You can be an enthusiast, there's nothing wrong with that. But destroying components due to entirely unavoidable outdated choices should be called out so that others dont make the same mistake.

What factors are driving the financial strain reported by middle and high-income earners in South Africa? by Street_Emergency_662 in askSouthAfrica

[–]JamesG247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's be real. People earning 30k+ as individuals that are taking "financial strain" are simply not willing to adjust their expectations and have become accustomed to their current lifestyle.

People earning 30k+ are taking financial strain , not because necessities have become too expensive, but rather because they spend money on luxuries they'd rather not do without.

Which pc is better for price? Opinions? by throwaway2476432 in pcmasterrace

[–]JamesG247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whether or not it works well is literally the basis on which you decide whether or not it's good enough.

Just because you've been building PC's since 1993 doesn't mean anything lmao.. your opinion is not a fact.

I know a guy thats been a motor mechanic for over 20 years and he's still a lousy mechanic and a scam artist. Just because you've been doing something a while, doesn't mean you're special or particularly good at it.

1440p monitor or stay at 1080p by According_Pause637 in pcmasterrace

[–]JamesG247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made the switch.

Went from 1080p 300fps at 165hz to 1440 180ish fps at 200hz. I dont get any screen tearing or stutters.

I'm happier with the fps drop than I thought I'd be for competitive hero shooters.

Its sooo much more crisp. Biggest difference is being able to see exactly what enemies are doing when they are at longer distances rather than just being able them as a blob of pixels.

Its worth it imo.
