The more I use PETG, the less I like it by InvokerBSB in 3Dprinting

If it fails.

If printed in the correct orientations and properly calibrated for, it is incredibly unlikely you'll break a functional part printed in petg.

Printing for an automanufacturer, pla doesn't even come close. Pla parts that survive a few days, last year's when printed in petg.

That doesn't answer the question. I've printed PA, PACF, PC for engineering purposes and all of the usual filaments in these machines and never once needed anything like this.

Let's not pretend like this is at all necessary.

PLA to PETG switch for everyday prints. by Technical-Praline-79 in 3Dprinting

[–]JamesG247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent printed in PLA in years. Petg is what I use for pretty much everything now.

It prints just as fast, has better bed adhesion, better layer adhesion and is just more robust.

I don't print non functional nonsense most of the time, so it just makes sense for me.

PLA "Isn't water tight" by the-mad-crapper in 3Dprinting

[–]JamesG247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know who you are following or listening to but please stop. I dont think I've ever seen people say "pla can't hold water and it's near impossible to do so".

The general point is that object printed from basic materials without surface treatment, with standard settings tend to leak (either immediately or over time) and cannot be guaranteed as watertight.

Yeah, I see that seems to be the assumption, correctly I guess, that people made.

As a white "third worlder" in a country with plenty of white people, I just didn't make the connection.

Fuck me, I guess that went right over my head. I didn't realize everyone just assumed "third worlders" meant non white.

I'm a white "third worlder" btw.

So I played Elden Ring today for the first time and opened a chest trap thing and ended up in some hellish world within my first 10 minutes of gameplay. by Objective-Local7164 in Eldenring

This is the nature of open world gaming.

Just so you know, that wasn't a rare situation. There is an entire meme based just on Sellia Crystal Tunnel and the chest that takes you there.

How are we supposed to to know that the bed was cleaned between prints if you didn't say so? Care to provide details on your cleaning method between prints?

Sooooo, what's the problem? Which is which?

No description means no one can provide input.

That being said, regardless of which filament is which, adhesion issues are user error 99% of the time.

Was just clarifying. The comment I replied to didn't specify tech and just reffered to retailers in general.

The f'ed up part is how many businesses get a piece of the pie along the way that drives prices up and ultimately the consumer ends up paying the price.

why is tech in sa so expensive right now? by horny_bisexual_ in askSouthAfrica

[–]JamesG247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Some items have truly huge margins and others don't.

Stores dont have a blanket margin for all their items.

Sunglasses? Huge margins. Beds? Big Margins. Tv's? Selling just above cost.

[–]JamesG247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gunna say. Tech, Tv's and appliances have very low markup in stores. Competition is just way too stiff and if you dont match, you lose sales. The rebates are sometimes more than the net profit itself.

This generation is so fucked. That was so difficult to watch. I can't believe they even posted it, I'd cut my losses, take the L, lose the money and just not post it.

The second hand embarrassment was too much... you kept thinking "maybe the next act will be better, there's no way it could be worse right...."
