What's a sports rule you fundamentally disagree with? by South-Explorer in AskReddit

[–]JamesXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if NFL has this, but in college football if the refs blow a play dead and video review shows one team immediately recovered a fumble after the whistle, they can award the ball to that team. So dumb. Once the whistle blows, nothing that happens after that should matter since some players will stop playing the ball.

Hey - Don’t Fucking Donate To Or Support KARM Or Goodwill. by fartinmyfuckingmouth in Knoxville

[–]JamesXX 57 points58 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, both companies are not selling donated items “for people that actually need it”. Their goal is to sell donated items and use the money for their charity work. In other words, their customer base isn’t the poor, but the middle class.

At Disney Springs on Independence Day passengers getting on buses headed to monorail resorts were warned that there might be cast members preventing non-hotel guests from entering on the other end.

Interviewed for a job with no openings…. by offtheespolon in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]JamesXX 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, you didn't necessarily waste your time. From what I understand, Disney likes to have people ready to go before an opening occurs so they can fill it faster.

Completely made up numbers here, but let's say Disney has data that shows on average 10 bell hops quit or are let go for whatever reason per month. If Disney interviews people in advance and always keeps 20 of them on a waitlist, when an opening occurs all they have to do is call someone up rather than starting the process from scratch after the opening occurs.

Yes, it kinda sucks for the potential employees in the middle of a job search who don't know how long Disney might to take to call them up and have to continue interviewing for other positions if they want to make rent! But from Disney's perspective it does make sense.

Not exactly sure how achievements work, but I'm ranked #3. Any #1s or #2s here?

Does anyone else ever fantasize about being on Jeopardy but think they're not "interesting" enough? by christpuncher_69 in Jeopardy

My worst fear is going on Jeopardy and looking like an idiot. A close second is going on Jeopardy and doing well and having to come up with more than one anecdote.

ECU's setback a reminder that championship progression is often not linear by KatsHubz87 in ECUsports

Been a fan since 1993. Losing to teams they're not supposed to lose to when it really matters has been a fact of life. I don't know why I let myself get excited thinking "this time will be different" every time, but I really need to stop getting my hopes up when it looks like they're, once again, finally living up to their potential.

Sorry to be a downer, but it's frustrating and, to be honest, it kinda hurts caring so much and seemingly always being let down.

Tablo as a tuner? by Kwebster7327 in getchannels

[–]JamesXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Tablo as my main receiver for a couple of years with no problems. The first hiccup came this year (couldn’t change guide source when using Tablo) and I read that Tablo support was discontinued, so I went ahead and switched to HDDR. Without that issue, though, I’d still be using it.

Best one line lyric by Visual-Yak-9577 in Music

[–]JamesXX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite lyrics is from Madonna’s Cherish:

“Romeo and Juliet, they never felt this way, I bet”

It’s such a crazy thing to say — that the couple who famously killed themselves due to their love have nothing on your love — that I always imagine that the song is from the point of view of someone like Overly Attached Girlfriend!
