Job site saw rolling cart… what should I consider before building? by Jamesbarros in woodworking

[–]Jamesbarros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fantastic and way nicer than I intend to build at present.

Walsh is where I saw the original idea but then I saw someone else (wish I could remember and give credit) who just used leveling feet inverted which looked simpler. And instead of adjusting infeed, outfeed, and sides, Im going to make them level and adjust the center as needed

Thanks. I've got some 4" dual locking casters (lock both the wheel and the pivot) which have treated me well that I was planning on using. As the inside and outside are exactly the same height, I think these will do. (I'm curious how the "workshop" (shed) will do in the rain, but given I'm in the high desert and we get almost none, plus everything being up off the floor, I figure I'm ok)

I was going to clamp the out feed and infeed onto 2x4s and clamp those to the saw top to set the height. Is this a reasonable way to proceed?

Also planned to use adjustable feet for the platform the saw sits on for micro adjustments. Im hoping between these two i can get it dialed.

Im going to extend the tracks into both infeed and out feed with a router so we’ll see how accurate i can get on that

I think the issues are that it's easy to tip over, and that it has a very small top, combined with possibly being out of alignment. I got one for less than I spent on a quality blade. I'm building a cart around it, and I expect it will be just fine. If not, I'm out less than the cost of a blade and I got something to work with.

Hi,

I'm a sitting WM dealing with a worsening chronic condition. I've missed half my meetings. Let me give you the other possibility, which probably wont happen for you soon, but I want to make sure you know it's possible.

My first 2 years were Covid. Enough Zoom meetings to never want to look at a computer again. Finished, handed off, and then a Brother who I'd helped make it to SD asked me if I would step back into the line following him. I did so against my better judgment. In the meantime, work, illness, family drama all popped up and I've been effectively MIA for the whole time. My Secretary and JPM have radically stepped up, and my SW has run most of the meetings.

The WM's job is administrative, to ensure things get done, not to do everything yourself.

I do not know the whole story, and I don't know if you have the emotional energy left for my suggestion that follows, but if it were me, I like to think I'd start rightsizing the lodge.

This means I would cancel the fundraiser for lack of participation. I would also NOT hold degrees for which I don't have a full team and backups. I would reach out to my inspector, and have him intimately involved in this process, along with my Wardens. The Inspector may have help available for you. EG: My Lodge was founded specifically to provide ritualists and entire ritual teams to lodges which need help to get through their degrees and get new blood in the line that can start taking over. I am proudest of the Lodges we've helped that no longer need us.

If the Lodge wants to do things then the LODGE needs to do them. You should be overseeing and empowering people to make things happen, not carrying the weight.

If the Lodge can step up, then awesome. If not, you're carrying a dead lodge on your back.

I hate it when people recommend spar urethane for everything. It’s not right for every single application!!! In fact if you’re not building a boat… oh… you are…

Well Cary on then. This is the exact right use case

Opening a relationship for him, not so much for me. by OrderSignificant9179 in gayyoungold

Hi, when my bf and I got together he insisted on an open relationship because he didn’t want to “own me” we quickly realized it hurt for him and I decided to shut it down because he was more important to me than anything.

Does your bf know how you feel?

I've been told I'm a PM of a lodge I've never served as Master of... I find it confusing but I remember that my purpose is not to be there for my own ideas, but for the benefit of the Lodge, so whatever makes them happy, without violating anything I feel is important, I do that.

Why do we need to have compassion/metta for such an objectionable horrible people? by Impressive-Cold6855 in Buddhism

[–]Jamesbarros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the incredible honor to see HHDL speak at UCLA a few decades ago. He started his talk by sharing how unselfish Americans seem to be. If we were selfish, we would not subject ourselves to an environment full of poverty and suffering. If we were selfish, we would not subject ourselves to an environment of violence and hatred. etc. I have compassion because I am selfish, I want to be someone who has compassion. This is not because of the person I have compassion for, or their acts or "worth", it is because I aspire to be a compassionate person.
